> 3 dayI have a Mac. I got it in 2011. Shes plugging away working along just fine. Ive never had a problem with it. But its 9 years old. I had a Dell and then a Sony PC, and those lasted about five years. Maybe I could have dragged out a few more years. But 9 years. Thats a long time. I have so many pictures and videos of my loved ones. If I lost them, then Id feel bad. So I did some research looking in to ways to back up everything. Somehow I settled on this. I had hooked it up to my Mac, and it prompted Time Machine to launch. It guided me to set up the device. Now it just automatically backs up periodically. As its connected, an icon appears on my computer screen Backup Plus. I can click on it and view the files. Each backup is dated. Each backup has all my files, my tax data, my checkbook, my financial data, the file with all my passwords, all my pictures, all my videos and all my music. Its there. I can check it. I can click on it. So I know its backing up periodically, and if something happens to my old computer, then Ill still have all the data. And it wasnt even that expensive.

> 3 dayI should have picked up one of these a long time ago. So far it is doing what it is designed to do. It is lightweight and compact. I’m pleased with this Segate Ultra Plus 1 TB Portable Drive.

> 3 dayDetach the drive before you let computer go into sleep or hibernate, otherwise after wake up the encryption software will prevent access, system might not be able to identify the hardware thus telling you that the drive needs check and repair, and you cant safely remove

> 3 dayIve only had it a couple weeks. Found it very hard to get started and finally got it working and my data backed up via a Mirror file - had to move all my docs to a Mirror file on my PC (a Mac Pro). Then it somehow got locked and my password, which I meticulously saved, does not work - cannot access my data nor does it back up any more - says folder missing. I read on one of the reviews to do a factory reset which I will try. I do not want to return the product since it does have my data on it. I cant access it but fear someone else could. Update- I plugged it into a different USB port on my laptop and it works fine again.

> 3 dayThe whole thing fits in the palm of my hand. It’s small, it’s fast, it’s everything you’d want in a travel external drive

> 3 dayI have a 2017 MacBook Pro with only a 256gb SSD. Ive been able to manage thus far, until my job has transitioned into more media and editing. Using primarily Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator has made this external hard drive a necessity. I formatted it to Mac OS Extended (journaled) using DIsk Utility and have it set up as my scratch disk for my Adobe Cloud and it has been perfect for my needs. Easy and fast and its quiet too. Small footprint makes it easy to throw in my bag and bring it with me. Im very pleased! *One important thing to note that can be seen in the stock photos, but not gleaned from the title: the unit itself is NOT usb c...but rather they include a usb 2 to usb 3 adapter. At 2TB...I should be good to go for a very long time!

> 3 daySet this up 6 months ago, today manually updated after large download, found it had not been backing up like I thought. It asked for password, put in my usual and it said it was wrong-looked at my hint which says use regular password - nope didnt work. I then wasted a half hour looking for a way to reset my password-nothing. I started a chat and asked simply how to reset password-50 minutes later after multiple back and forth they finally told me THEY DONT DO THAT! You have to completely wipe all the data from the drive and start all over again-which took over an hour. On top of that it never did prompt me to choose a new password so I dont know if next time I will have to do this all over again.

> 3 dayI’m using this to hold automatic backups for my Mac. It was basically plug-and-play. It’s been doing its job faithfully for a couple of months more.

> 3 dayThe Seagate 2TB external hard drive comes with its own backup / restore software. The file selection criteria is very easy to set for regular or on demand backups. Only backing up the files that have changed greatly shortens the backup process. I highly recommend this drive.
