Seagate Ultra Touch HDD 4TB External Hard Drive - 15mm, Pebble Grey, Post-Consumer Recycled Material, 6mo Dropbox and Mylio, Rescue Services (STMA4000400)

Bought this to dual boot my machine since Adobe and Apple aren’t playing nice right now. Disappointed bc I thought this game as a USB C cable, but instead it has an adapter to go to C. Not sure if that changes the effectiveness or not. Maybe speed won’t be compromised, but wish I had known to start with.

I have used this Backup Plus Ultra Touch for 6 months, now it doesnt work. First issue is that the Seagate plug that goes directly into the drive is loose and barely stays in. Bad hardware isssue. Heaven forbid you move the thing, it comes right out. Now the drive isnt recognised by my computer at all. Im fairly tech savvy with my Macbook Pro and I set it up 6 months ago so I know what to do, nothing works. I called Seagate. Was on-hold for 27 mins and just as someone picked up, the call disconnected. Their text with an agent option on their website is actually a robot tree that sends you trouble shooting articles. Maybe they think of their robot as an agent, I sure dont. I have used Seagate products for a very long time, Im disappointed and wont buy again. Yes, I am once again on hold...

After using this product for 3 weeks I find the hardware to be okay (cant say much after 3 weeks) but the software is extremely poorly written. Very sparse user interface. Once you set up a backup plan theres apparently no way to edit it. Mine stopped backing up files 5 days ago, and theres no way to check to see whats wrong, no way to restart it, etc. This is supposed to be automatic but once Windows goes into sleep mode the software just stops working. Hard to believe this comes from a major hard drive vendor. I submitted a question to Seagate this morning. If I dont receive a workable, dependable solution within 2 days Ill return the product to Amazon as defective. A backup solution needs to be automatic. Too bad the company that made Click-Free years ago is no longer around. That product worked. Probably secondary to the geniuses at Microsoft putting too many hurdles in their way to keep the product useful from one version of Windows to the next.

I use this as a portable drive for back and forth between offices for important files. It also acts as a secondary backup drive, which I manage manually. I dont use the backup software on this drive, but I do on other Seagate drives, where it works adequately.

I love Seagate. Been relying on them for years, to backup My data. I only had to replace My other Seagate because it fell out of compatibility with newer tech - not because it broke down. And the new one has been flawless, as well. Customer Service is responsive, friendly, helpful, and supportive. Setup was easy. Maintaining it - effortless. It works in silence, and gives Me the storage capacity I need. I love it.

the finish and looks are really good and its a light weight hdd. Write read speed is also 80Mbps which is ok Usb c is additional benifit for people using slim laptops with 1 usb port

First I love the compact size and then the price for 2T is very good. It wasnt hard to set up with my MacBookPro. Once I went through the downloaded installer and was able to go to the Time Machine in my system preferences and check this as my preferred backup device. The first backup is a little over one hour but I have a lot to download so the time to do this is fine with me. I also liked the fact that it came with a USB-C adaptor so I didnt have to go to an Apple dongle. I have used G Drives in the past but the prices are extremely high now if all you are doing is backing up to your personal computer. I am not a tech savvy person but I didnt need any tech support to get this running.

I must be one of the lucky ones as my ultra touch has been working great. I formatted two separate partitions for my Mac to use as both a time machine and a backup storage. Not hard at all to use and set up so I would recommend.
