Not bad. I like the security feature. Occasionally it says the memory is full and I have to unplug and replug to fix it. I don’t have to do this with another cheaper drive I have. I’m guessing it’s a glitch related to the application toolkit.

We bought this to back up our photos. It is lightweight, portable, comes with a USB-C and USB connector (good for new computers/iPads), and functioned just as desired. I am highly satisfied with this purchase! I would recommend you buying this harddrive for any backing up needs you might have!

the finish and looks are really good and its a light weight hdd. Write read speed is also 80Mbps which is ok Usb c is additional benifit for people using slim laptops with 1 usb port

The hard drive itself works great, the only issue is that the included USB C adapter does not work.

The read/write rates are really bad. Even after taking some advice from other to format the drive. It does great for the first minute of transferring files, but after that it sinks down to 20mb/s or less. and it never improves after that. I recently bought the amazon basics USB Type C to Micro B cable it stays fairly consistent above 90 mb/s throughout the transfer. Most of the time being above 120 mb/s. The only way I recommend this drive is if you buy the Amazon Basics cable with it. Update: Wouldnt recommend this drive really to anyone unless you are just storing abunch of old files. Not sure why this comes with a 4 months of adobe lightroom when the drive is too slow to really do much consistent editing in Lightroom. If you have lots of photos, look somewhere else.

I had read a review about WD external drives being good with Macs, but it wasnt compatible with Big Sur, and I got no help from WD. So I found the Seagate Ultra Touch when I read a report about the best external hard drives for Mac that worked with Big Sur, and it worked perfectly from the get-go. I was SO relieved, because all the time I wasted ordering, waiting for, then trying to troubleshoot the WD drive put me VERY behind on an important photo editing project for work. I would definitely recommend this one. (In fact, I bought 2 of them.)

I dont know why I keep buying Seagate backup external hard disks. Every one Ive bought over the years has been troublesome on my Windows PCs. The hard disks themselves have been flawless but the automatic backup software has routinely failed to automatically back up my data. This one sometimes gives me an error that the volume cannot be found and that it needs to be formatted but then the next time I turn the PC on, it works fine. Every few minutes I get a pop-up message on the screen, sometimes saying the backup has failed, sometimes saying the backup was successful. On the other hand, this one has the ability to add a password to protect the contents of the hard disk, which is a good security feature.

I have used this Backup Plus Ultra Touch for 6 months, now it doesnt work. First issue is that the Seagate plug that goes directly into the drive is loose and barely stays in. Bad hardware isssue. Heaven forbid you move the thing, it comes right out. Now the drive isnt recognised by my computer at all. Im fairly tech savvy with my Macbook Pro and I set it up 6 months ago so I know what to do, nothing works. I called Seagate. Was on-hold for 27 mins and just as someone picked up, the call disconnected. Their text with an agent option on their website is actually a robot tree that sends you trouble shooting articles. Maybe they think of their robot as an agent, I sure dont. I have used Seagate products for a very long time, Im disappointed and wont buy again. Yes, I am once again on hold...
