The write speed is decent and the device doesnt seem to overheat. The small size makes the device portable - the unique cable requirement makes portability a chore.

Bought to get more storage space. Have had good experience with Seagate in the past. This drive is small and light. While I do not intend to take it with me, it would be very convenient to transport. The only thing I dont like is that I havent figured out how to fully disable the locking feature. UPDATE 2/16/2021: Two annoyances. First, in order to assure continuous backup you have to disable the locking feature which I finally figured out. Second, when I wake up my computer I routinely get a message that the drive has a problem. I have Windows scan it and a problem is never found. Took away 1-star as a result.

I have used this Backup Plus Ultra Touch for 6 months, now it doesnt work. First issue is that the Seagate plug that goes directly into the drive is loose and barely stays in. Bad hardware isssue. Heaven forbid you move the thing, it comes right out. Now the drive isnt recognised by my computer at all. Im fairly tech savvy with my Macbook Pro and I set it up 6 months ago so I know what to do, nothing works. I called Seagate. Was on-hold for 27 mins and just as someone picked up, the call disconnected. Their text with an agent option on their website is actually a robot tree that sends you trouble shooting articles. Maybe they think of their robot as an agent, I sure dont. I have used Seagate products for a very long time, Im disappointed and wont buy again. Yes, I am once again on hold...

The storage is immensely bigger than my previous drive and the program can help with my photography hobbies :)

I purchased the drive in March 2021. Everything seemed okay at first except I was getting frequent messages to scan the drive or to reconnect the drive. Around the July 21th I discovered a message stating Last backup 3/28/2021. I searched the documentation trying to find out what was going on. First of all , this is not a plug-and-play drive. There are several programs that you have to navigate, Sea Tools, Toolkit, DiscWizard, and others. The quick-start guide consists of 3 small diagrams with no text. The bulk of the quick start dealt with the Mac computers and the various foreign languages. Deep down in the other documentation, I discovered that incremental backup was not supported in Windows 10 computers. I spoke with tech support for more that an hour while he searched to find out why the drive status showed that it was shown as locked in Explorer. Also, the Toolkit program could not test the drive. At that point, I had had enough. Im going to toss the drive in the recycle bin. In the past, I have used Toshiba, WD, HP, and Seagate (Barracuda) drives. I used another drive software and it generated a page full of errors. I am not a novice. I have been a systems programmer, a certified network solutions engineer, and a manager of tech support.

As noted in other reviews it worked right out of the pkg on my MacBook Pro w/o any formatting. Used solely to store my tens of thousands photos. Bottom gets pretty warm as it is a HDD & not an SSD. Write speed is slow but I knew that when I bought it for the price. Device side of cable appears proprietary (see photo). Didnt use any of the SW provided on the drive. Nameplate says made in Thailand in 2022.

I tried it out on my Super Sonic Windows tablet and did not show anything backed up so now I use it for my Macbook pro and it woks great with time machine it works good i like it.

Good news: Excellent support from Seagate and Amazon. Bad News: First one did not work, Seagate support was amazing and determined a bad device, Amazon quickly delivered a new one the next day. Second one worked but was also giving errors and made my husbands computer not work after a reboot. There is something wrong with the current batch of this device April 2023. We have the data on the harddrive but my husband does not want to connect it to his computer and neither one of us at this point want to use it to reformat and return!!!! Wasted money.

Got it as a compact drive to transfer data between two computers. Love the size and it works great so far.

Seagate offers great customer support. I needed advice before I bought the first Ultra Touch because I just bought an IMAC and need to transfer files from PC to MAC. No problem. No re-formatting. It speaks both languages. A bit later on I bought a second one specifically to run the IMAC TIME MACHINE. Highly recommended.
