> 3 dayGot it set up and working with my Alexa devices, but not as easy as the Amazon plugs. First you have to download the HBN app and create an account. Then you plug in the plug, find your network- you MUST have a 2.4 Ghz network if you only have 5 Ghz it wont work - enter the password for your network, then hit reset on the plug and search for it in the app. Once its found youre good to go. Now you have to go the Alexa app, enable the HBN skill, go to games and skills, find the hbn skill, click on it, and search for devices until it finds the plug. Mine found it on the second try. If you want to name the plug you must do so in the HBN app. So there you go, if it was an Amazon plug it would set itself up on your Alexa network immediately. Now that its setup it works just fine. If its worth it to save a few $$, and you are ok with the extra setup steps, its a good product.

> 3 dayOk. After we got our tree up the power button ended up being at the back of the creed. Made It very difficult to turn lights on and off . Decided to buy another power plug to plug lights in so we could use Alexa to turn lights on smd off. It worked just like we expected. We were already using one for our living room light. Do It only made sense to use It for the Christmas tree lights lights also. Worked like a charm. My grandchildren could put the lights on and off. When they wanted.

> 3 dayThe sequence to set up the device with Alexa doesnt quite work like the app says. It needs an extra button click.

> 3 dayI had a problem with the set up program regarding getting it to recognize the blinking light status. ( you have to touch the text for “confirm light is blinking” this allows the next button activation and the tethering process to continue. Kudos to Darren and Diana from support. They were great at following up with me to clear this up allowing me to program my plugs

> 3 dayProduct was very easy to both connect to our network and to our smart speaker. We had 1 of the 8 plugs we purchased fail to install, but one email to the manufacturer and a replacement was at our door within 3 business days. Highly recommend the company and this product! Steven was our support rep, and he was amazing!

> 3 dayEasy wifi, iPhone, and Alexa integration. I bought 8 for my Christmas window candles. It was easy to create a Christmas light “group”. They are on a timer and it’s so cool how great they come on and off at the same time!!! Easy to rename and use elsewhere after Christmas.

> 3 dayThis is an update to my original review. I have seen in the questions and answers section that many people have problems with this device. They say things like “there is no timer, I couldn’t get it to work, it’s useless I put it in a drawer.” I will be 77 yrs old in April and I installed it and it is an amazing device. For a timer function you must download an app, on an iPhone, from the App Store. The one I use is Smart Life. The timer function is truly unbeatable. To install this you need, as stated in the device description, a 2.4 GHz network on your router. Many routers, such as mine, are dual band. No problem. If your router has only 5 GHz, I have seen on YouTube there is a way to cause the router to default to 2.4 GHz. I cannot attest to that, so take it with a grain of salt. If you have access to 2.4 GHz and use the correct WiFi password during setup you should have no trouble using this smart socket.

> 3 dayThere are about 8 different “Smart Life” apps in the AppStore. All seem to do the same thing. Possibly the hardware is sold under different names. Ultimately I scanned the QR code which took me to Tuya.com, and I downloaded their version of the app. No mention of Tuya in the docs and no mention of HBN in the app. Setup - it was not obvious how to get past the screen where you confirm the flashing LED. The “next” button isn’t highlighted... you have to tap the tiny line of text that says “confirm....” Also, the illustrations in the app don’t match the plug. The app shows an LED on the face of the unit; in reality it is inside the button on top. So is my unit older or newer than the app?? Once set up the modules are very easy to use, with no issues so far. They boot up much more quickly than WeMo modules (and are less than 1/4th the price.) Recommended.

Greater than one weekI dont like how these only work with Alexa and its not easy to get programed...but also, Im a little technology challenged sometimes. But the ones Ive got to use with Geeni work much easier.
