I love these programmable switches, but one of the 4 I got has a broken switch, so it doesnt work. I am hoping to get a replacement... I will reevaluate after dealing with the manufacturing company.

OK, I have not tried to make this work, but I am already lost. The first instruction in the tiny, confusingly layout manual that I was reading (with a magnifying glass) is: if you cant read (this tiny) manual, to go online and download the manual in pdf. I did that, and after 10 minutes of searching the site found a video on how to make this thing work. WOW! I cant hear as fast as the instructor is talking. Understand, I have been in the electronics field for 40 years. But this video is baffling. It shows things so fast that I gave up watching it. I will try to read the manual and update my review soon. UPDATE: OK, I downloaded and started reading the pdf manual. Set up was not as bad as I anticipated. I downloaded the third party app then linked with the Alexa Skill app. Things work fine. My biggest complaint is that shape of the plug. It can only fit one plug into a dual outlet - and it is surprising how many outlets are oriented the wrong way for using the plug.

Installed 9 of these fairly easy. Already got mine to all start at 5:30pm and end at 5:30am. First thing I did was scan the QR code to install the app then ignored the paper instruction. The app is everything and all that is needed. To make the installation easy, dont plug this thing yet until you are on step 1 on the app (there are only 3 steps). Step 1: Plug it in, see the red light (it powers on its own) then click next. Step 2: Hold the power button for 5 seconds until it powers off, then you will see a red and purple/pinkish light alternating. Tap on the little circle to confirm. Step 3. Click next and let it do its thing for about a minute or two. Pros: The app is what sold it for me. It is much more user friendly and has better features than my Lutron app which I use use for my hard-wired smart switches, and I paid less for everything. Cons: Nothing for now but will update if any of them 9 I installed fails. I wish they were smaller coz they are taking up the space for other socket. Other thoughts: Always good to test once installed. Also, it helped that both my router and wired repeater are dual-band. 2.4 Ghz is really all you need; perfect for long range band and besides, its not meant for passing any other internet traffic. It has one purpose. 5 Ghz would have been an overkill.

This product works on 2G wifi network and works well. I use the HGN app on my fire tablet to control. The size of the plug is big so if you have two sockets on the wall, you would be able to use only one due to the size.

Got it set up and working with my Alexa devices, but not as easy as the Amazon plugs. First you have to download the HBN app and create an account. Then you plug in the plug, find your network- you MUST have a 2.4 Ghz network if you only have 5 Ghz it wont work - enter the password for your network, then hit reset on the plug and search for it in the app. Once its found youre good to go. Now you have to go the Alexa app, enable the HBN skill, go to games and skills, find the hbn skill, click on it, and search for devices until it finds the plug. Mine found it on the second try. If you want to name the plug you must do so in the HBN app. So there you go, if it was an Amazon plug it would set itself up on your Alexa network immediately. Now that its setup it works just fine. If its worth it to save a few $$, and you are ok with the extra setup steps, its a good product.

These are a little bigger than I thought but work perfectly for the Christmas lights and the timer setting comes in handy. Only draw back is you have to download the hbn app, they dont connect to Alexa without doing that 1st. Other brands I have been able to connect with Alexa with adding another app to my phone. But needed if you want to use the timer option.

It took me a couple of days to get the bugs worked out, but now that I’ve done that they’re working perfectly. By the way, they do allow you to program a light to turn on and off multiple times a day.
