I use mine for soldering mostly but have learned to use it for everything small so it doesnt end up lost. The silicone is very high grade. Soft supple and lays flat. Accidentally had the iron fall onto it and wasnt noticed for several minutes - no damage at all.

So far so good. Ive done some soldering directly on it and it seems to be holding up pretty well. I wish they made them larger, but this was the largest I could find.

Works as promised. Thick and functional. Smelled a little odd originally but nothing overpowering.

This was a perfect gift for my grandson who does wood burning. He likes that the silicone surface keeps his wood pieces in place. Safety is of the upmost importance for myself and my grandson. I love the mat. I use it for my wood burning . Just in case the hot iron slips it would land on the mat and not on the table. Highly recommend the mat.

I used it first to fabricate jumpers to diagnose an automobile electrical system problem involving the brake light switch, and associated wiring.

Very nice mat for soldering. Definitely heat resistant. Not just a thin piece of silicone. Large enough to work on most boards. Compartments are very shallow (1-2mm), which is good as I wanted something to seperate components yet not be getting in my way. No odor. Would definitely recommend.

Larger and nicer that similar mats used for cleaning guns!
