If you had an electrician like we had, then you will love having this to chase down your cable connections. Very easy to use and works great. Also helps you find defective wire connections. If you have digital over the air TV and are having issues with the signal, it could just be because you have bad end connectors on your cable wiring. If your wire is poorly grounded or you have poor connection, you will not get a strong signal. Wish I had this years ago after our electrician left our new house with no labels on any of the cable wires...2 wires for every room in the house!!

Its a handy tool if you routinely troubleshoot coax systems. This is about as bottom of the line as you can go, but it is simple so gets the job done. Probably the most lacking feature is the receiver caps dont store on the tester body, the store in a separate piece of foam. Mine showed up with dead batteries, as others have indicated. Amazon provided no product support other than a full return, and Southwire did not respond to my support request. I recommend buying from a company that can reliably supply batteries and/or customer service (pick at least ONE please, Southwire). In summary: Cheap product that will do the job , but expect to have to buy batteries on day one and not get any post-sale support. 2/5

This is a nice coax cable tester. Its four terminators make it easy to trace/locate the right cables. I deducted a star for one reason - it is very hard to see which way to put the batteries in, and if you put them in backwards, (I did) you will short the batteries, and they will get _really_ hot. The markings should be easier to read, and there should be reverse voltage protection. Still, once you get the batteries in correctly, its a very useful tool. Just be very careful putting the batteries in.

It would be helpful if you offered the Red,yellow, blue and green id remotes by itself. 2 of my I’d remotes aren’t working so I have to buy a whole new tester just to get 4 new ID remotes.

    Greater than one week

If you have a pre-wired for coax home, and the cables aren’t marked, this tool will find which ends terminate in each room. It also will test a cable in a loop, for continuity.
