> 3 day...but its my fault because I didnt know how these worked! I thought I would give drawing a try so I bought these sketching pencils. They do what they claim! The thing is, MY preference is to draw with a nice, fresh point and I needed to keep sharpening them. At this rate, they wont last long! There is nothing wrong with them but I think Ill go back to my mechanical pencil!

> 3 daySo far I am very happy with these Staedtlers. I am a Derwent user usually but in my last set the H value pencils begin to feel scratchy and were marking my paper. I ordered a set of these while I emailed the Derwent company. So far I have noticed none of those issues with the Staedtler pencils. They sharpen nicely, but do be careful which sharpener you use. The derwent sharpener with 2 holes tat sharpens wood then lead is NOT good for these pencils. Great for others, but not these. Overall very happy with them and would recommend to anyone

> 3 dayI want to learn how to sketch so when I looked at all the pencils on offer, the reviews indicated that this is the best brand. When my order arrived and my husband saw them, he said virtually all the students at the art college where he teaches biology use this brand, so I chose well. Ive just started using them and am very pleased. Love the metal container, which will keep the pencils in good shape when I travel with them.

> 3 dayI like both the thombow mono and mars Lumograph, you cant go wrong with either set I used medium weight 70lb drawing paper for testing both sets come with 12 pencils of the same hardness level , 4H, 3H, 2H, H, HB, F B, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B, 6B Tombow Mono come in plastic packaging with 12 unsharpened pencils, eraser and small sharpener Mars Lumograph some with 12 pre sharpened pencils in a nice metal tin case Tombow Mono hexagon barrel is slightly larger then the Mars Lumogrph Mono has pencil grade marked on 4 of the 8 side, Mars Lumograph Is marked on all 8 mono grade is marked with gold over white, Mars is easier to see quickly marked with white over black both have a nice barrel finish both sharpen well, although mono has a slightly rougher wood after sharpening with the hand sharpener it came with. both sets feel the same on paper. very smooth with the softer grades all the way up to 2H, 3H and 4H started to feel a little scratchy on the paper as expected for the hardness. both sets blended the same overall both sets are comparable to each other. it really comes down to what you want in the set. the Tombow Mono is a bit cheaper but you also get an eraser and sharpener. the mars lumograph comes with a nice metal tin for a few $ more. Because of the nice metal tin i keep the mars Lumograph on my desk and use them at home. I have the Tombow mono set in my Derwent Travel bag with my Charcoal pencils for on the go drawing.

> 3 daysolid high quality german made pencils with quality graphite. one thing to note about these pencils: the 7b and 8b are not really graphite, they are a carbon based blend that causes the pencil to grip the paper and make more noise. This also means they are very dark and not shiny like graphite. They are far darker than any graphite pencil. the remaining four harder pencils are a more typical graphite pencil, and also are very dark and very smooth. Derwent graphic 9b is lighter in shade the staedlter lumograph 6b. As an added bonus, the difference in darkness between the 6b, 4b,2b, and hb is basically nothing, despite the lead being harder.

> 3 dayThese pencils work great. I’m a beginning artist and can tell a huge difference between other pencils I’ve tried. I can get different effects in depending on how you hold the pencil. It hasn’t improved my sketching. If sanyrjing it makes me a crappier sketcher because the amount of detail is so pronounced. I’ve never needed to use an eraser until now fine strokes can all be seen clearly. Great pencils same crappy sketches. These aren’t miracle workers but i think will help me become a better artist in the long run

> 3 dayA very useful set of high quality drawing pencils. It covers the range 6B to 4H range required for an online drawing class that I just started. It also has the F hardness thats not always available in pencil sets. Includes a nice sturdy metal storage tin. Recommended!

Greater than one weekPackaged very well and allows you to keep them all together and in good condition. I use these for testing my lead alloy and they work great! Highly recommended!
