My gas fireplace came with an aluminum key and it broke after a couple of years. Dont worry about breaking this one. This one is made of steel and is heavy duty.

The builder left a 3 inch key for a gas fireplace in our formal living room, a room that is rarely used. Because of a delayed painting issue in our family room where we normally put our holiday decorations, we decided to put the tree in the formal room. Lighting the fire might be nice, we thought. The key that has been sitting on the mantle for 14 years is way too short to turn on the gas. Amazon to the rescue! This key is great, sturdy, easy to use, and large enough that we probably wont lose it.

Got a new house and needed a universal key for our fireplace. Length and quality are good and it works as intended. Maybe wish the grip was a little bigger since the valve was really cranked down, but other than that, great little tool!

It turns on and off just like it’s supposed to
