I had no choice in buying the mailbox. Its certified by the Property Owners Association. The color is not resistant to UV light; compare to the mailbox on the right. Its extremely faded. I did not install it; after I bought it, the builder did the installation. Ive had it for 3 months and no problems. So, Im still a happy customer, although if it werent for the Association, I would not have made this purchase.

For me the cost to replace and the ease of replacement of an old wooden mailbox, was easier to do with this Step 2 mailbox. I opened the Step 2 box in the house and put the the two pieces together on a table. It took sliding the head of the mailbox onto the base. The instructions say this process takes two people, but I had no trouble getting the two pieces to fit with ease and without assistance. The next process entailed securing the two pieces together with screws on either side of the head of the mailbox. I pre-drilled holes, then inserted the screws with my cordless drill with ease. It would have went faster had I had someone (or something) there to help support mailbox in a standing position, but I got it done in about 15 minutes. The next day I carried the entire mailbox outside to the post. It was not heavy. I slipped the base over the wooden post with ease, and slipped a bungee cord around the base to hold the two pieces together and upright, while I worked on pre-drilling holes for the two bolts that go in the front of the mailbox. Getting the bolts in goes easier with the right tools. I had a cordless drill and drill bits to pre-drill the bolt holes, but did not have a cordless drill socket adapter, so I had to use a manual socket wrench which meant twisting those 2 long bolts in to the wooden post while on my knees, and using a lot of muscle, effort, and time. Once done, it stood upright and strong, and most assuredly will withstand the weather. Im glad I got it.

Bought this as a Fathers Day gift for my dad. Arrived quickly and in great shape. Instructions are very clear. Of course, my dad made me install it. Had a spare piece of pressure treated 4x4 and a quarter bag of concrete. Used the post hole diggers to dig hole to correct depth, dropped a largeish rock in the bottom to give the post some spacing, put the post in the hole and dumped a little of the concrete in the hole to cover the bottom foot of the post. Poured some water in the hole and filled the remainder with dirt. Box attaches to the post with like two screws. Took maybe 30 minutes to install total. Dads very pleased and mom likes that you can retrieve the mail from the back of the box. Overall a winner!

It gets fairly hot and humid in the summer and snows a time or two in the winter, so I wondered about a plastic mailbox. My metal boxes rust and warp, and get ugly, so I decided to try this one. It arrived very quickly and had all the parts needed. It was larger than I expected, but that has turned out to be a good thing. My nephew came with the treated post required, and he had it in the ground in a short time. He did mix up the screws, so we had to scrounge some longer screws needed to attach to the post; not a big deal. I appreciate the magnetic closing of the door, and I think the ribbed inside bottom of the box is wonderful; it lets my letters stand up so my mail carrier can grab them easily. I like the looks; I like the box. I;m glad I ordered it.

It was pretty easy to assemble like almost everyone said. I am a 72 year old woman so I don’t think I would have been able to manage this by myself. I had a younger neighbor help me. It was much harder removing the old mailbox. The total time for removing my old mailbox, assembling the two step mailbox , and complete installation was about one hour.

So EASY to assemble !!! Once the post was set it literally took less than 10 minutes to finish assembly... Looks very good and appears to be sturdy. The use of a cordless power drill is recommended but not necessary... Quality !!!
