Awesome light. Use on duty all the time. Keeps my haND free, good for traffic stops and search warrants. The 2 settings are great for low light high light low red and hight. Charging is simple and you can do it from your cruiser. Thinking about buying from all officerS in the department.

I was worried that it wouldn’t stay charged long but I’ve used it all week long and it’s still going strong. It a very bright little light and it’s very flexible to get the job done.

i have this clipped to one of my pack straps for a handsfree light while moving around at night. the clip is very sturdy, and the case feels tough enough to handle abuse without any trouble. i have managed to knock the charging cover off by accident a couple times, and im concerned that ill lose the cover entirely when this thing goes out on a hiking trip with me this summer. light is plenty bright for my needs. you tap the button to cycle between low, high, and off, and long-press to change from white light to red, or vice versa. ive yet to run it dead from its initial charge with several hours of low-beam use, so i think the battery will easily last for a multi-day hike. once i get this out in the real world and give it some actual use, ill come back and update the review. for now though, im happy enough with this clip light that i would recommend it for outdoor use.

Awesome product! Quality you expect from Streamlight. Battery life is great. I usually charge mine every other week, and probably use it for an hour of and on each shift. Sometimes four hours. It has never died on me. This light is great for writing citations, accident reports, taking notes on a call, you name it. I hate illuminating myself inside the patrol car. With this light, I can write out a citation, read, and still see what the suspect is doing in their vehicle and they cannot see me. The clip and light sticking out of your uniform pocket does look kind of goofy. Ive gotten a lot of jokes about it. But as soon as they see it in use on a call, everyone is like man I need one of those. I will usually let someone struggle with their light under their armpit, while they are writing notes. You usually wind up holding your note paid to the light instead of the light to your note pad. And the light is usually too bright and you can barely read what you are writing. I then aim my ClipMate on to their writing pad. They are instantly sold on it. My advise? Look goofy. This light may save your life one day. It keeps your hands free, which is always a smart move. And you can always stick the light portion inside your shirt pocket so that only the clip is exposed. I do that too.

There are times when having a small tactical light source is an advantage and so when this item came up, I thought I would give it a try. Here is what I found: 1. You charge this item by removing an end cap (has a water seal) and then plugging that end into a USB port capable of charging. The first problem comes in as this unit is not designed fit only one way. Thus, it is very easy to plug it in backwards and not have the unit charge. If you do this, just reverse the unit and then it will charge. 2. The unit uses the red led to let you know if it is charging (solid red light) or if it is charged (blinking red light). Just keep in mind that if you have the light already on and plug the unit it, the red light stays on. The problem here is that if you plug it in backwards, you will not know since the light is also still on. If you have the white light on, it will turn that off and turn on the red led to indicate charging. So, you just need to be careful if you are using the red light and do not want to turn it off while it is charging. 3. The charger that is included makes it difficult to charge this unit on a wall plug!! It is a VERY tight fit!! 4. The switch that turns the light on and off and that is used to cycle it through brightness levels and between red and white light does not work easily! Getting it to work sometimes is a real pain. This is not a good thing if you really need the light quickly or if you need to change modes quickly. Maybe with more time it will wear in or something, but after several hours of use, it is still just as finicky. 5. The limited lifetime warranty is useless as it does not cover the battery, the switch, or the leds. Just be aware of that. While I like the compact design, I think that this is more of a prototype that needs a bit of refinement before it is ready for prime time.

Must have for police work. Adjustable, battery life lasts days and its quick to charge. I cant emphasises this enough, buy this product. Having both hands free while speaking with a suspect is paramount. You can even shine it in their face for safety if youre concerned. Please, buy this. Safety safety safety.

I really love the idea of this device. I have used higher end head-mounted lights for night fishing, hiking and spelunking. This one seemed very convenient for working under the hood on the side of the road, or just to add a little well-directed light for whatever arises around the house. This item works very well as a white light. It clips easily on the brim of a hat and can aim sufficient light for any work you might need to do at arms length. The red LED is also quite useful when in full darkness, though it appears quite dim when there is some ambient light in the room. The construction seems quite solid, it is lighter than many other options I have tried for this type of light, and the short bendable arm helps to guide the light right where you need it. The light can charge off your computer directly, or using the wall plug that comes packaged in with it. The documentation claims a 3.5 hour run time on high, and I found that understated for my sample, though the brightness does decrease toward the end of the battery life. It also charges pretty quickly in a nominal 2.5 hours, though my experience was faster than that. The doc also says the battery is good for about 300 charge cycles before it falls to about 70% of the original capacity. That doesnt seem like an issue if youre using this light for occasional task lighting when combined with its strong specs to start with. If I could stop there, Id be looking at a five star review. Unfortunately, theyve made a few mistakes in design. First, instead of outfitting the light with the typical mini or micro USB port that many of todays devices share, they put a full-size USB plug under a removable cover. On the up side, the cover is attached so you wont lose it. On the down side, it adds most of an inch to the length of the device and appears to hold a potential to break. It isnt a full USB plug, just the internals without the metal cage that guides it into the slot correctly and protects the internals. I fear that it might more easily snap while it is sticking three inches out the side of my laptop to charge. Related to this, the orientation of the wall adapter was poorly considered. The adapter is smallish and, when connected, the plugs stick out on the same side as the neck of the light making it harder to fit against a wall. While I have seen plenty of small rechargeable lights with micro USB ports end up breaking loose at the port, a mini USB port would fit great in the space and solve both of my issues, though it does fit nicely in the hand at its current size. A final note is that this item is sold at a luxury price. It is nice, but it isnt focus-adjustable or wow bright. There is a great convenience factor and strong battery life, but there are less expensive alternatives to accomplish a similar purpose for many users. Since this is a recently-received unit, I cant say much about the longevity or durability of the light in practice.
