> 3 dayThe packaging was unacceptable. In came in the original boxed, unsealed. Very easy to just open. The light is very bright. I havent been able to put it to active use yet, so I cannot review battery life or durability.

> 3 daySo once upon a time I was sitting around reminicing about my old school army flashlight I had as a kid, and I wondered if anyone still made L neck flashlights like that, except with modern LED technology like my Maglite had. After much searching, I found this. This light is no joke. By long and far the greatest flashlight Ive ever owned. Puts that dinky little GI flashlight to shame First off, it is BRIGHT, way brighter than my Maglite ever was. And not only that, because of the depth of the parabolic reflector inside, the beam goes SUPER far, and cuts through just about anything, heavy rain, snow, smoke, whatever, it just goes. Its also nice to just be able to clip it to my jacket and forget about it. That nice big button has an amazing feel, so I never even have to look at the light to find it, I can just hit it like second nature. It has a good sturdy feel to it as well, like its not gonna pop off like other lights I have The construction as a whole is rock solid. You can tell this thing can take a beating, even though its made of plastic. I toss this thing around because I know it can take it. And it works in any weather like I mentioned before, it is AMAZING in snow in particular. I loved going out on adventures at night during all the snow we got up here in the northeast this year with this thing. It was like day time practically. A feature I love in particular is the fact that it uses double A batteries. First off, Ive owned this thing for 6 months now, and have yet to need to change the batteries (though it looks like it might need them soon). Second, unlike my Maglite, which needed D cells, which always seemed to get weak right around the time a hurricane or blizzard is coming and everyone is running around buying up all the D cells. But no one ever buys the AAs in those situations, and you get more for cheaper than the D cells, so thats where I think this thing really pays for itself. Sure its pricy, but in the long run itll save you in batteries Another feature I love is Moonlight mode, so I can use this thing inside instead of blinding myself at full power trying to peak into a dark corner of the house where we need a little more light or something. That is probably why the battery lasts so long, having multiple power modes like this, which is really just a convience you never knew you needed. I think I knew I made the right decision when one of my buddies whos a firefighter saw my new light and was like We have those on our truck, they are amazing, where did you get one!? At first I felt a little bad spending this much money on something like this, but with all that stuff combined, now I dont regret it one bit. I havent touched that maglite since I got this thing. It is the ultimate flashlight, and the last one youll ever need.

Greater than one weekWhere did they get off charging $140 for a big, heavy flashlight that’ll weigh you down in emergency situations?? And also it uses batteries from 1997. I’ve never seen a company not upgrade their equipment to at least lithium. Also, title says “hand cranked” but description says “ac/dc power”. Huh? You might as well get an old used major tool brand 9.6v flood light with tool battery cheap off local sites. Still way less money and just as good. Lithium batteries take a better beating, last longer, can sit around awhile and actually work in emergency situations and are lightweight. Miners and firefighters have enough equipment to carry, the last thing they need is a way too big and heavy old light adding to add to that weight. How people praise this light is simply mind boggling. This outdated and hazardous light need to be taken off this site until the company can make a decently spec’d one. Also, the amount of time the light lasts is pathetic. Most lights/flashlights last for DAYS straight these days, not a few hours. And these old batteries are terrible and won’t last half that time in a month or two.

> 3 dayBy far the brightest flashlight Ive ever owned. Also rugged, stands up on its own, and waterproof in the rain of the Pacific NW. None of the previous reviewers mentioned the moonlight mode [quotes from Streamlights own website]. If you hold the power switch down until it cycles through all the other settings [about 8 seconds or so], it goes into moonlight mode, which is about as bright as a standard cheap LED flashlight. Per Streamlight, this can be left on for days without running out of power. While dim in comparison with burn your eyes out high power, it would be great for trail hiking after dark or moving around a campground at night. This goes in my truck anytime Im out after dark now.
