> 24 hourOk, this is a great edge of your seat, your imagination runs wild type of haunted house movie. This movie lets you take the plot where you would like it to go, although the film is horror genre, it is a great psychological thriller, much like the film Pyscho. The thrills are not the actual ghost, spooks, or ghouls which reside in the house, rather the atmpsohere the actors create playing their parts. The acting is solid and the direction is second to none with some big name stars of the time. The characters portrayed are of differnent life experiences and are bought together to prove the existance of the supernatural and throughout the movie you will see how the director brings them all together and interweaves them to make the movie very entertaining, suspensful and at times scary. Although not digitally remastered, the quality of the film is very good with only minor imperfections noted.

Dont Make Me Watch It Again!
> 24 hourI was about 10 years old when the original version of The Haunting came out. My mom sent me and two friends to the movie just to get us out of the house. By the end of the film, all three of us were in one seat. I next saw the movie about 15 years later, curious to see if it still scared me. It did, and I slept that night with a chair wedged against my bedroom door. About another 15 years after that, I again watched it (having bought the video), and the movie was every bit as creepy as Id remembered. I dont have any intention of watching it again, but I cant seem to get rid of the video. I once lent the video to a friend who liked scary movies, and she found it very boring. Not enough special effects or gore for her. But that is exactly what makes The Haunting so scary to me. I found it every bit as disturbing as The Blair Witch Project. Its not the shocks that make you jump out of your seat that are truly frightening; its the little, very subtle things that you may not even notice at first...until its too late.

> 24 hour
I first saw this film when I was about 9 years old. The scene with the expanding library door still gives me the shivers. Black and white suits the claustrophobic/brooding quality of the film. In a genre now overwhelmed by Slasher productions this movie is an example of how you can truly terrify someone without resorting to dragging them through a slaughter house!

> 24 hourI saw this movie when I was 12 years old in 1963 in my hometown theatre and was scared out of my wits. I have always wanted to see it again and ordered it. It is an ok movie but certainly not as scary as I remember at 12. However, it held my interest and is not a bad spook movie for the 60s. I would recommend it to the younger people just so they can compare scary then and scary now !!!
