The Road to El Dorado

Bought for my son we love watching this together being watching it with him since he was 4 years old and he is 9 now

Lets start with the good things about this animated feature. The voice casting is inspired, and the repartee between Kevin Kline and Kenneth Branagh in particular is delightful. I dont know if there was improvisation, but the dialogue reminds me of the bromantic exchanges in Judd Apatow movies-- albeit delivered faster and much more child friendly. The animation is reminiscent of Prince of Egypt and beautiful, for the most part. The mediocre things. The female character does not resemble any others from features for children. She is interesting, but extremely, almost discomfitingly sexual in her methods of getting what she wants (heed the rating, parents). The explicitness of her character is especially dissonant considering al the other elements (sidekick animals, The music by Elton John is pleasant enough but ultimately forgettable, and nearly all the montages the songs serve as background for are not funny or clever enough to hold up against the parts of the movie with dialogue (a far cry from majestic set pieces from Prince of Egypt or Katzenbergs 1989-1994 Disney features) The plot, overall, is not very memorable despite a villain who is entertaining and menacing, and I found the climax strangeky tedious. Watch it if you like animation and talky bromances, have children who are too young to notice sexual innuendo, or old enough that they will find it entertaining. Its a strange target audience, yes.

This movie was a great addition to my Social Studies unit on ancient Mesoamericans. My students had a great time comparing and contrasting, using this fictional piece.

I saw this in theaters as a little kid and have loved it since. Now it’s great to enjoy them with my children.

I enjoyed my movie rental & am going to refer it to other adults. I find some parts too sexual to allow underage folks to view such as the scene of kissing. Nice graphics and storyline seemed a bit short, however.

The movie was exactly what I ordered. What else can I say :)

Ive had this movie on VHS for many, many years now despite having been made lazy by the no-need-to-rewind DVDs. I finally bought it on DVD and my girlfriend, who had never seen it, loved it. It has a scene that suggests sexual motives but not many children would pick up on it. Basically, its child-friendly and is an excellent comedy.

I am so glad I found this on Amazon because I have been searching everywhere for it! My husband had been trying to get me to watch it for a long time now, but like I said, we couldnt find it. Its a cute movie and fun for the whole family. And it came in perfect condition

The first time I saw this movie it was in my middle school Spanish class seven years ago, but I loved it even back then. It was funny and filled with action and adventure! Warning! Its not for the little ones. It has some cartoon nudity (Tulio and Miguels butts) and a suggested sex scene, but its great for the pre-teen kids. Being 18 and watching this for the first time in years, it made me feel like a kid again. Dreamworks really hit their stride with this movie. Its what started their success. A year later Shrek was released and we all know how well that did. The animation is like a mix between the classic cartoon animation and computer-animation, which gives it some depth and a little bit realism. Tulio and Miguel are great characters, that despite being con artists, have some really great qualities to them. The female lead is an okay one. She brings some humor and her own bit of con knowledge, but the writers could have done more with her. All in all, its worth watching and Id certainly recommend this as a family-friendly movie.

I wish they still made animated movies like this, with the comedy packed in every minute
