I love this movie. It has a witty subtext for us adults who enjoy animation, and yet it is still a hokey musical. It cracks me up every time i watch it, usually once a year or so. If you like animated feel good films with singing silly scenes you will probably enjoy this.

This is my favorite movie of all time. For nostalgia alone. This movie didn’t get the respect it deserves.

Ive only just gotten around to watching this, at 21 years old. I wasnt expecting much, but I was told that I just had to. I was very, very glad I did. What was remarkable about El Dorado was how well it played to two different audiences - I could see the appeal to children (though with some strong language and definite sexual themes, you may want to take care) and to adults clearly. As far as the graphics go, the art was colorful and interesting, the animation fluid. Particularly noteworthy were some distinctly hilarious facial expressions. The music was fun and catchy, if relatively simple. The plot moved snappily, occasionally a bit too quickly to enjoy some of the finer points, but to little detriment. The writing is where El Dorado really shines, with dialogue as fun as the music and snappy as the plot. The jokes are well-timed and well-executed, without a single one falling flat and creating some genuine laugh-out-loud moments. If youre looking for historical accuracy, or in-depth commentary on Spains influence on Central America, you wont find it here. What you will find is a hilarious time for audiences of -most- ages.

It is surprising that in such globalized world you just offer movies in only one language either subtitles or audio. So disappointing.

Ive had this video a few years now and its been used as many as 15-20 times. It has held up well and the picture quality is great. I love VHS over DVD as they seem to have fewer previews and there is less fuss in re-starting them, just pop it back in where it left off. El Dorade is a great story, set in tropical jungles with good depiction of native perspectives of the modern world. The Spanish version can be followed by a person with just high school Spanish skills.

A fun movie, not perfect but enjoyable. The ending felt a bit rushed and anti-climatic to me but thats really just me being picky. The animation of Kenneth Branaghs character doesnt quite match his voice (matching voice to character is actually a serious and delicate art form, one that is easy to slip up on), which is probably the thing that bugged me most about the movie.

I wish I could see it in Spanish in prime, is my favorite movie ever! It reminds me of the best times of my childhood!

I asked my 22 year old son what he wanted to do tonight for his birthday (being stuck home in quarantine has it limits). He surprised me by saying he wanted to watch this movie from his childhood. We all liked it back then so no problem. It was great hearing the Elton John music again, and the characters are funny. What really surprised me is, in looking at the reviews, I found a rather large amount of 20-somethings talking about watching it at this age. Thats cool! And it shows that it has an enduring (and endearing) quality.

Glad this Movie finally got a Blu-ray release after so long! Fun for the whole family and a classic to have in blu-ray collection.
