They Died With Their Boots On

> 3 dayThey Died With Their Boots On features one of Errol Flynns greatest performances as the flamboyant General Custer, and he plays him with humour and bravado. Hes well matched by his best leading lady, Olivia deHavilland, whos given more of a character to work with than usual in the Flynn films, and she brings humour and decency to the role of Mrs. Custer. This was Flynn and deHavillands final film together, and it showcases their chemistry better than their other films, especially in their farewell scene. I dont think the history behind the screenplay is very accurate, but then again, how many historical films from Hollywood are? The action scenes are well directed by Raoul Walsh (especially Custers last stand), and its a good balance of drama, spectacle, action, and humour. Although the film runs for nearly two and a half hours, it never seems long.

> 3 dayThey Died With Their Boots On is a glorified Hollywood style account of the life of General George A. Custer. Errol Flynn with his golden dyed locks makes a dashing Custer as he rises from a naive West Point dandy to Civil War hero. Olivia de Havilland plays his wholesome yet fetching love interest and eventual wife. They are both natives of the same town in Michigan with Custer living on the poor side of the tracks.

> 3 dayI like the history of General Custer and saddens me about the Indians. This too, was their last stand. A great movie to watch.

> 3 dayalthough loosely based on the early life of George C.Custer, and then his later command of the 7th Calvary, it was only purchased because my mother repeatedly requested it. she likes it and that is all that matters. sometimes we watch it together and sometimes not.
