Good old cowboy yarn but very inaccurate from the truth

Gift for husband and he keeps watching it over and over. Arrived on time and my husband loves this classic. Would highly recommend this to any old movie buffs. Great for your classic collection.

Very good quality

Im a big fan of all history, world and U.S. history. Of course, Ive always heard that General Custer was one of our major Indian fighters, and that he was ruthless in his pursuit of their defeat. Now, for those who are interested, look up the new issue of Amerian History magazine (Jan 08 I think) and it has a cover story on General Custer. They discuss this film in great detail, pointing out what was wrong, what was right, and what was made up. It turns out that yes, Custer WAS a supporter of the Indians! I was amazed, but not suprised. Another historical inaccuracy put to rest.

You cant beat Errol Flynn, Olivier DeHavaland, Sidney Greenstreet. It sturs me every time I watch it. Which parts? Most parts, love and war.

I just viewed the beautiful colorized version of this rousing version which features the famed Little Bighorn battle and its grand entertainment. Flynn is flamboyant as all-get-out as Custer and the fine vignettes during the episodic elements build up to the exciting Last Stand climax. Olivia is fetching as Elizabeth and Grapewins a hoot as California Joe. The first half is romantic comedy while the second leads to inevitable tragic outcome, yet its all expertly mounted (although historically inaccurate) and played in the best old Hollywood style. Steiner score is great; this was the last teaming of DeHavilland and Flynn.

Everyone in this movie is just heroic. Like they say in the movie, the thing about glory is that you can take it with you...
