Greater than one weekOut of the box I couldnt get a radio check at all the truck stop at the base of the grape vine. When I got to Vegas, I saw my cb guy Irishman, and for 40 bucks he made is awesome. Works great, he pulled out stuff on the mic and opened the unit and added some stuff and POW it is excellent. So plan on upgrading when you get one.

> 3 dayI use this radio in a tractor-trailer. Even though the newer truck is quiet for a truck, there is still quite a lot of background noise. If you turn the volume up past a certain point the internal speaker begins to break up, making it difficult to hear clearly. Its tolerable;e with the windows up, but is almost useless with the windows down. Its not enough of a problem that I would return the unit as I rarely use the CB and have it on to hear about road conditions ahead, such as an accident or construction that other truckers would warn about. If you are one of those people who use their CBs a lot, you may want to consider another radio or installing an external speaker.

19-11-2024The cb works good. My only complaint is that the screen isnt very bright and after about 6 months the screen only shows what channel your on. Everything else fades out.

> 3 dayBeen doing CB for about 35 years. Not constantly jawing, more of a lurker. Had several units in the past. Ranger, Cobra, Uniden (Bearcat) et al. This is by far the most advanced, easy to set up and generally polite CB I have ever owned. Color changing display keeps my OCD in check by matching my HAM radio and dash light colors. One small issue to be aware of is that the weather reception is spotty. Best to listen while stationary if you are in a fringe area.

> 3 dayWorks well and no knobs for people to mess up. I like the channel scan function as I frequently haul to facilities that use certain channels and its easy to forget to change it from one to the next. I still have to change it to talk on the right channel, but I atleast I will hear everyone I need to.

Greater than one weekI have no doubt that the bearcat 880 is a good cb radio. However, be careful when reading the description as you scroll down. They are talking about the beartracker 885 and what it can do, not the bearcat 880. The correct product description is on there, you just have to scroll down more to get to it. I am returning the 880 and purchasing the 885.

> 3 dayTook this thing with me to hell and back and 4 years later it still operates the same as when I first got it. Awesome choice menu for color display and there a few diagnostic tools in the menu that are also very helpful. Good radio but the 980 is what I’m looking at getting next. Only difference is it has sideband more so for intermediate to advanced users.
