> 3 dayI installed this radio in my Dodge Durango to replace my old radio .. I do have to say this is a solid radio with tons of features built it. The speaker is nice and clear and can be turned quite loud if you have a noisy vehicle to mount it in. The display though is really what makes this CB, i was really amazed at how great it looks - it is extremely easy to read, and has thoughtful features like a dedicated night button which can be programmed to switch to any of the display colors you prefer for night/day, adjustable talkback, and mic gain right on the front! Also, there are the 7 weather freqs with weather alert that makes it nice when you are traveling with the family. I like this much better than my old Uniden LT, which was a great radio but i lost my side bands (That i never used anyways) and it looked like it was out of a 1970s. The 880 looks like it belongs in a modern vehicle, and performs as great as it looks right out of the box! This radio is also nice for everyone used to the size of the big radios as this one has the same great features and is sightly smaller and fits much better into smaller spaces. This is a wonderful radio and i look forward to the wireless mic that uniden will be coming out with for it later this year..

Greater than one weekI bought this radio to put into my 80s Toyota, under my stock-sized 1-DIN deck. With MINOR trimming to the bezel with a dremel and some very light fabrication, it fit PERFECTLY into the lower radio spot. Originally, I bought this radio for this reason, and only required the WX-band feature and knew nothing about Uniden radios (Ive always bought and been satisfied with Cobras 29 series) This unit has changed my perspective 100%, however. Price point, quality, and features put it squarely in the quality range of the 29-LX series radios with far easier to use features and benefits, while being cheaper as of Q2 / 2023. Notable is the 4-pin to 5-pin handset adapter included, and the built in SWR/CAL features. Without being peaked/tuned, Im getting about 5mi of range off a 3 Firestik/Firering combo with a SWR of 1:3. All with an install that looks near-factory optioned. If youre considering it, buy one.

> 3 dayOut of the box I couldnt get a radio check at all the truck stop at the base of the grape vine. When I got to Vegas, I saw my cb guy Irishman, and for 40 bucks he made is awesome. Works great, he pulled out stuff on the mic and opened the unit and added some stuff and POW it is excellent. So plan on upgrading when you get one.

20-04-2025The display is so dim, its not usable, even on the brightest setting. A lot of toaster ovens and similar devices use this same type of display and because of these low quality displays, the product is near useless! The same here. The image shows the unit at full brightness on a slightly overcast day, not full sunlight. In full sunlight, it looks worse. I see some others commented on this issue too. Its too bad, this unit has some good features. But the poor display is a deal breaker. Returning and intend to buy a conventional CB with standard BRIGHT LED display and analogue RF meter. Its old school, but I need something with a display I can read in sunlight.

> 3 dayI am running the uniden 880, and have been very impressed with it. Like you, I wanted a more modern looking unit so it didnt look out of place in the front of the cab as well as a built in calibration too because when it comes to optimizing radios for signal and transition strength.... I have no clue. This this feature was important to me. I also liked that the unit was 3 inches shorter than the cobra 29xl and had a multi color display. The unit itself had a quality build and the speaker is beyond loud, which is the reason I didnt go with the smaller midland or cobra 75 model. I mounted mine up high on a mount I fabricated. Click image for larger version. Name: image-3911373057.jpg Views: 90 Size: 53.1 KB ID: 586341 CB Magazing also has a YouTube video on this exact model. It has two parts and essentially explains everything, what it does and how to use it. Its worth a look. Build 9/10 cb mic mount screws were to small Looks 10/10 Ease of use 9.5/10 instructions were not good Sound clarity/ quality 10/10 My set up: Uniden 880 18 ft Amazon cable Rugged Ridge cb antenna mount screw mount antenna holder firestik brand HD spring firestik brand hd is a must stay away from the light and Medium duty springs. 4ft firestik. Side note* I did have to bend the rigged ridge antenna mount as the antenna would not clear the stock rubicon tire and I did not have to file off the paint to obtain an SWr of 1.0 Hope this helps. Good luck.

> 3 dayWe bought two of these in March of 2019. Out of the box the displays were way to dim to be readable in normal daylight conditions. One of the two has had the display fail all for a small corner. These units have been well cared for and theres no reason a cb should have this sort of issue. Its not like we are launching the space shuttle here. Its just a radio. The same unit that has no display just recently stopped transmitting and now only receives. Needless, to say I am shopping for a replacement and I wont wast money on another Uniden product.
