This was purchased to replace a unit that was in poor condition. I really like this unit as it works great,as well as the multicolored display. It is easy to read in day light or night time. The readout is clear and easy to read. It transmits clear and receives strong signals with ease. The weather bands are useful in case of rain or snow and allows time to plan accordingly. Its well worth the money, and I would recommend it to anyone needing a new radio.

so I purchased and installed with no issues. Tuned the antenna and it works great. My issue is the LED display. There are several colors that you can choose from on the display, yet none of them seem bright enough during day light hours, to the point that Im unable to see what channel the CB is on, run diagnostics, or monitor the weather channel I want - again, because I cant see the display. This unit is just over 4 months old and Uniden will not honor their 1 year warranty as it was sold by a third party. Ive reached out to Amazon and Im waiting to see if they will replace this unit. More to follow....

Radio wouldnt transmit when mic is keyed up straight out of the box. Took it to a CB shop and they couldnt tell me what was wrong with it. A friend purchased the same radio and his works fine. Its a nice radio but going to give it a 3 because of the issue.

First one I got was DOA. It would light up and appear to function but no sound from it. Even the buttons didnt beep when pressed. The second one functioned as expected SORTA. The output on the receiving end has very low volume. Everyone tells me they have to turn me way up to hear me, which makes everyone else too loud. This wasnt the case with the Uniden 550 this unit replaced. I have the mic gain all the way up but it doesnt seem to help. Rather than return it again, Ill probably just take it to a CB repair place to have it checked. I havent decided yet. Maybe Uniden will see my review and offer some suggestions. EDIT: I decided to return it. I couldnt justify spending additional $$ to get it working right. I bought a different brand.

This radio is fantastic* *Ok, it is fantastic for what it is. I upgraded from my old Uniden Bearcat Pro PC68XL which was a really great basic radio which followed me from car to car for ten years. The old Uniden still works but I wanted to upgrade to a unit that had weather bands and an on-board SWR meter, both of which work great on the 880. The options on this radio are fantastic (I can choose the color and set contrast and brightness? gasp!) and the black face with a hint of chrome is very classy and understated, unlike the huge chrome CBs that are obviously meant for installation in an 18-wheeler. But, it is definitely not a heavy duty radio. If you are planning on installing this in a work truck, or a commercial vehicle I would look at a more classic CB (Uniden Bearcat Pro, Cobra model 29) on which the switches are stouter and can be operated with gloves on. I havent had any durability issues with this unit, and the build quality is top-notch but the buttons are on the smallish side and I shudder to think of a methed out trucker fiddling with this while piloting 80,000lbs down the highway at 70mph. All of the functions work really well and the adjust-ability is fantastic. The noise cancelling mic works well and the on-board speaker is very clear and loud.

The cb works good. My only complaint is that the screen isnt very bright and after about 6 months the screen only shows what channel your on. Everything else fades out.

i got this for my 2013 jeep patriot. it looks great and works great. i put it right on the passenger side of the gear shift and the mic went on the shelf above the glove box. I got a few good radio checkes when i used it and i got a road trip coming up soon so ill post how it goes. but its also easy to use and the self dignosins thing works great told me what i had to fix so its great cuz i had a short 18 in and i could not get a good range with it so i changed it out for a 3foot and works great.
