> 24 hourThis external is okay. It works on my Mac and the PC Ive been assigned at work. And seems to work okay - now. I had a problem with it not booting at home, on my Mac. It frustrated the heck out of me because it worked okay sometimes, but not all the time. I went to the Help site and the Forums - OMG - theres way too much to sort through there. I absolutely hate to go to the full encyclopedia when Ive got a definable problem; its like going to the grocery store for one item and finding 20 varieties or brands of the same thing. Its overwhelming. But I finally figured it out. The problem was that this drive was not plugged into a USB port that had enough power coming through it to run the drive. It simply could not quite boot up. It would boot up at work but I dont use a multi-port USB adapter there; I had a powered 7-port USB adapter at home but it just didnt have enough juice. I got a new, 10-port powered USB adapter and the problem is solved.

> 24 hourThis drive went through a full cycle in the laundry. We let it dry out for 24 hours and tried it out, it is working and transferring data just fine. Excellent drive. We will retire it now just to be safe, but have read other reviews that it will continue to work fine.

> 24 hourI would keep the WD Passport on your desk. Mine survived several falls, but considering it has moving parts, it could only take so many hits before breaking. This is my own fault, and I own up to my mistakes. Its a great drive for a great price. I recommend being careful with it for the sake of its longevity. After all, no hard drive is immune to falls.

> 24 hourWorking IT for decades, I always back up files to Flash/Thumb drives, but use this external drive as a clearing house... Especially while traveling. Laptops are something I go through like paper towels. Mainly, because I dont have the luxury of waiting for them to cool down before throwing them into its case. So, I Save As files onto the My Passport ONLY. Then transfer them (when I have time) onto a digital storage device. FYI, if the name wasnt already taken... they should have called it Timex (takes a licking and keeps on ticking)... Well, a hard drive ticking really isnt a good thing, but you get what I mean.

> 24 hourThis Hard Drive is a nice piece of equipment. I purchased it for the price. Although many had said theyve had no problems with theirs, I did. At first, I got it to work on one laptop that used Windows 8.1. It wouldnt work on other laptop that used Windows 10. My tech guy had to show me how to assign it a drive letter. But Ive had to do that every time I plugged it in. This is the only reason Im giving it 3 stars... I wanted something much easier to work with.

> 24 hourIve bought several of WDs external hard drives over the years, and this one remains my favorite. Its easy to set-up/install, but please read carefully before you just madly accept any and all offers the program may encourage. Use this HD just for its intended purpose: to back up your files and protect you in the event of a system failure and data loss. I purchased the 2TB My Passport. This is more than enough spacious realty for your files! If youre the average users, mostly backing up personal data such as photo, videos, and word docs, it may take you a lengthy amount of time to fill the Passport to capacity. The files transfer over at lightening speed. Transfers that were calculated to take a full day to complete occur in less than 5-10 minutes when using the WD My Passport. You cant beat it for all around portability and on-the-go needs!! I highly recommend regularly backing up your data in case of system failure, and WDs My Passport is a lower cost, and highy effective means to achieving that end. The peace of mind alone is worth the cost. This is a hands-down excellent product.

> 24 hourJust plugged it in, ran the backup utility, and set up my backup schedule. Came back later and tested single file and folder restores, and they worked easily just as you would hope. I like it, it just ticks along in the background, keeping my data safe from a disk failure. I may buy another and do an off-site rotation once a month just for safe keeping. No cloud needed, yay!

> 24 hourI would like to have a 2 TB Solid State Drive, but for the money this is the next best product. This has the USB 3.0 interface which should be faster older USB 2.0 drives. I am processing Video Captures from HDMI devices so 2 GB files still take a long time to transfer.

> 24 hourIt seems to be doing the job, but its hard to tell if its actually backing up my files and where they are stored. I wonder if theres a simpler backup available. Nice size.
