Im using this filter for the first stage in my reverse osmosis filter system. I try to change out the first filter every three months or so in hopes that the carbon filters can last a little longer since they are more expensive. As you can see in the picture even after my water softener, the 5 micron filter pulls out a good bit of impurities. This whirlpool filter did seem a little taller than the previous filter I used, but I was able to tighten it enough to get a good seal.

Easy to install, but I have to crawl under the house every 6 months!! :-{
