> 3 dayMy dad is an avid gardener, but hes also the kind of guy who buys everything he could want and need. For Fathers Day, I bought him this nice, American-made trowel and got a thank you and didnt hear much of it.... Eleven months later, I called my mom asking for ideas for gifts for the next Fathers Day and thats when she told me how much they both love this trowel. Its indestructible, high-quality, and my parents fight over who gets to use it if theyre both out gardening. So, I bought my dad a couple more Wilcox products for that next Fathers Day, and will likely continue to do so for years to come. Wilcox constructs nice, sturdy tools that will last a lifetime even for someone like my dad who is a hardcore gardener. His tools take a beating, but these can stand up to it.

> 3 dayI would give it five stars, but (this is a big but) I am trying to decide whether to return this trowel. I dont know how to rate it!! I love the size, weight, sharpness and balance of it, and though I havent yet used it, its definitely a fantastic trowel. The problem is the pointed bumps on the underside of the handle grip. They are large and sharp and hard and they hit my hand in all the wrong places making it quite painful for me to hold. Ive been trying to figure out if theres a way I could saw the bumps off to make a smooth underside that wouldnt hurt my hand (impossible) or remove the red plastic entirely (sort of defeats the purpose) and replace it with some kind of smooth tape wrapping. In every other way besides those bumps on the handle, I think this is nicer than any other trowel Ive ever seen. But the bumps are the deal breaker. They hurt. I really, really dont want to return what is otherwise a great trowel, but that may be what I have to do. Five stars if the handle is comfortable for you (maybe someone with large, tough hands?) Im sad.

Greater than one weekI bought this tool upon the recommendation of my sister. I have a heavy clay-based soil which the angled tip easily cuts into. The blade is long (9 1/2), so digging deeper holes takes less effort than with a shorter handled trowel. Its pointy tip is also effective for removing weeds like crabgrass and plantain.

Greater than one weekVery durable so far. Not the greatest for scooping soil, but at the same time, it hasnt bent 4 different directions like a regular trowel in clay soil.

> 3 dayIt is the perfect garden trowel for our clay soil. Sharp edges cut through soil and roots. Sturdy construction; the handle doesn’t bend! Good thing it has a red grip; I can find it when I leave it laying in the yard.
