Depending on the project, Exacto blades can last pretty long, or go dull quickly. Often, most of the blade is still sharp, but the tip area has dulled to the point where cutting cleanly is difficult or impossible.

While these blades do their job, they are different from the USA made ones, and dont perform as good. Edge is not as smooth as the blades made here in the US. Also, the non cutting edge feels rough and jagged, and after handling them your hands smell like rusty metal. This doesnt happen with the other ones. I use the xacto to sharpen charcoal pencils and even with all these issues, the blades perform almost the same as the ones made in the USA, almost.
