05-06-2025Making knives? This 4 pack of flat steel bars is exactly the material to get. This 1095 stock is 12x1.5x0.12 in size and high carbon that has been rolled and annealed. When I opened the package, I noted it was in three different layers of rust proof oil and paper and then also bubble wrapped to help prevent damage and rust. I cannot imagine a better steel product for knife making or even using it in welding or as a spacer. It is a steal for the quality it brings too.

> 3 dayThey arrived in perfect shape. No rust, corrosion, or warping. Very well packaged. Call me crazy but I got these because the price was right and you can never have too many supplies on-hand. Once I turn them into something, I will revisit this review.

> 3 dayAs description says, these are flat stock, and the surfaces a pretty darn smooth. Edges are a little rough. Impressed they came in wax based wrap, and very light oil coating. zero corrosion or pitting,.

> 3 dayTheres not a lot to say about steel blanks, but these are as advertised: well-packaged, corrosion-free, dimensions are as promised. I lack the lab equipment to verify the carbon content, but Im confident these are going to produce excellent results.

> 3 dayWhen this arrived I started thinking to myself how can I rate flat bar steel? Well as someone who welds and fabricates quite a bit of stuff around the house I can tell you this is very good quality. It arrived with a light coating of protective oil to keep it good during shipping. It was wrapping in wax paper and 3 layers of bubble wrap to protect it. When you have a company that takes the time to do their packaging like this you know it is going to be good. I mainly got this so my son could attempt to make his own knife. He has collected knives for several years and has wanted to attempt to make his own. After drawing a rough sketch that would fit the steel, he has been in the workshop most of the night working this metal. So far it is easy to work and he is making pretty good progress with it. Hopefully he will get it done soon and I can post some pictures of it for you all to see.

> 3 dayNever thought I would be able to get raw steel for my husbands love of making knives, but here you can get everything. They arrived very promptly, and they were exactly what the description said they were. I am sorry that I didnt whip out my calipers to make sure that they were PERFECT...good sometimes is good enough in the forge. Looking forward to seeing what he makes with them.

> 3 dayThe hardness I got out of this metal after quenching and my heat treating was roughly 62hrc. The metal did require a lots of elbow grease to get all the scratches and blemishes out. But does clean up nicely
