> 24 hourI have a few Linksys managed switches and a few smart switches (similar to a managed switch with no layer 3 functions or console port). They primarily use traditional copper ethernet cables, but they each have two SFP ports for fiber. In theory these can be used for any purpose, but in practice theyre best saved for when copper cannot cut it. I use them for 30-40 meter runs in my home that get snaked through the garage and end up under baseboards. Fiber is really thin, so it can fit under the baseboard. Fiber is immune to crosstalk, so the various runs being right atop each other wont interfere. Of course another use for be extremely long runs or runs through an industrial area with loads of magnetic interference or other issues. Lastly, fiber doesnt conduct electricity, so it wont spread havoc if a connect device gets struck by lightning. Anyway, these SFP modules just plug in and work. I used Monoprice LC to LC fiber and these on both ends (in Linksys switches). Works great.

> 24 hourWanted to write a review because its not entirely clear: this transceiver supports 2.5gbe and 10gbe links according to my network testing (I didnt test 5gbe). Its a little bit funky if you look at the description and it says 10gbe only but thats because the transceiver only advertises itself as 10gbe fiber to the host network card but it will negotiate 1/2.5/10 links over regular RJ45 copper. I verified the network speeds with iperf3.

> 24 hourWorks great with Unifi UXG Pro and Frontier Fiber ONT! No issues getting 5Gbps up and down via Frontier with this SFP+!

> 24 hourNeeded a couple of these to extend network with a downlink between two UniFi switches. Excellent price and received them quick. Link has been up for about 2 weeks now with no problems!

> 24 hourI bought this for my Cisco 3750 Switch and it worked well. It also worked with Netgear managed switches that I have.

> 24 hourWe purchased the 10GBase-T 30m (10gig version) of the rj45 gbic. I started out testing against a 67 foot old cat5e wall run that connects into a patch panel that is then connected into another patch panel which is then connected into one of our 10g fiber ports; this would not register a connection of any type with this gbic but when using an older 1gig version RJ45 gbic a connection was made. I then connected the 10GBase-T 30m into a newer-ran spare line wall drop I have for my desktop, which is a dedicated Cat6 (Amazon ASIN# B00WJOW0PI) line from the wall ran straight to the 10g fiber switch with no other breaks (patching) in the line totaling about 63 foot in distance; my workbench switch connects and reads as a Full Duplex 10g connection on both ends according to the cisco IOS. I then…got curious. I made several single straight run patch cables with no breaks/patches between my workbench switch in the office and the 10g fiber switch in the server room; I ran cables through and across the middle of the office. I used old Cat5e cable we purchased many years ago; Amazon ASIN# B005VQW56U. At distances of 30 feet, 60 feet, and 130 feet a 10gig full duplex connection was successfully made. The moral of this story is: as long as your cable is not super old with multiple patches between point A and point B, this 10GBase-T 30m Copper RJ45 gbic does indeed connect at 10gig over copper. Equipment used to verify connection on both ends: Cisco Catalyst 3560-X with 10g module card C3KX-NM-10G (workbench switch) Cisco Catalyst 3850-24XS (24port 10g Fiber switch)

> 24 hourI purchased 2 of these, and theyre both reporting as SFP-10G-SR fiber transceivers instead of RJ45. As a result, the other end wont negotiate higher than 1GbE. Unless I can figure out how to resolve this, these are going back. Hopefully support can assist, if I can figure out a way to contact them.
