Puncture end worked really well as expected. The cable connector feature for my application worked really well for my application. I was inserting a barbed fitting into a hose if you put your thumb and forefinger finger as shown in the pictures and press in at a slight angle towards the underside of the tool it pushed in the barb quite easily. There were reviews saying it didn’t work for them but in my application it worked very well.

perfect tool for punching holes on 1/2 inch drip hose.

As a whole punch, its awesome: sharp point and good size and shape to maintain a grip while pushing the tool into 1/2 inch or larger supply pipe. But its useless for inserting emitters-- you can lay the quarter-inch tubing into the channel but it will just slip down when you try to push an emitter into it. To be fair, I dont see a tool design that would work for this purpose. The only strategy that has worked for me is dipping the end of the tubing into hot water; the emitter slips on effortlessly. I gave it four stars because its a well-made tool at a reasonable price; it fails only at what is likely an impossible task for any tool.

Im not sure that Rain Bird 1/2 inch drip tubing is really made to have emitters pushed directly in by a human. Making a hole first with this tool really helps.

I suggest you heat the tubes first. I carefully used a lighter. Cant understand why someone cant make a better mousetrap for this type of tool.

In process of getting everything ready for installation of drip irrigation system, found my new system doesn’t use this tool. Gonna keep it as I like it and might find another use …. HANDY FARM DEVISE

Works well. Don’t push too hard or you might go through both walls
