I have seen many criticisms of Dyson’s claim of a lifetime filter and the fact that they sell replacements. The fact is if you wash the filter you cannot use the device for 24 hours because it takes that long to dry. With a replacement, you have a filter to use while the original dries. In addition to that I own the original Dyson DC03 floor vacuum cleaner and after a few years and washings the filter turned into mush and lost its shape. I assume this will also be true for the stick vacuum filter.

if your vacuum is starting to smell its because you need to change the filters. filters should be change often depending on how often you use your vacuum.

I have a Dyson V7. This filter does work, but it doesnt fit perfectly. Meaning, when the vacuum is not running, it actually comes loose and sits a little high. Turning on the vacuum will suck it back down into place, but it doesnt fit perfectly, so it can make a high-pitched squeal if it doesnt seat properly while running. Its not the end of the world. It was a good, cheap alternative. It would be nice it it fit perfectly so I wasnt worried about losing a little suction power.

I have these replacement filters in storage closet and hope they will allow the same sucking (errr) suction as the old filter before it was dirt clogs which it is not yet.

I had completely forgotten that this filter existed and I let it go for about a year. Oops. I didnt even try to wash the old one because it had gone so long. After installing this new one, the suction increased dramatically.. I wont forget again. Appears to be exactly the same as factory.
