This does WONDERS for keeping the light out and making it possible to share space with a young child while traveling. Ours is 2 years old and weve been using it since they were about 17 months old. Weve used it on several vacations in hotels and visits to other homes. Its easy to become good at assembling/disassembling it quickly and fitting it back into the carrying case it comes with. I would often assemble it, then just lift it up and fit it over the bed in question. Easier than trying to assemble it over the top of the bed. It fits over all port-a-cribs (pack & plays etc) and every crib I encountered, though a couple of those we needed to lean into the fact that the fabric is a bit stretchy (didnt stretch out though!). This is a particularly useful device when traveling in colder weather, as the interior of the slumberpod is about 5 degrees Fahrenheit hotter than the space around it. Even with the ventilation windows open. This was a bit of a challenge in summer months when the interior of the slumberpod was pushing 86F. We needed a fan to keep things cool enough for the little one to sleep well, even with a minimum of clothes on.

If you’re traveling and your kids can’t sleep without their environment pitch black, get this. It’s pricey, but would say it’s kinda worth it after a few trips. Setting up isn’t too hard as long as you have plenty of space; it’s similar to setting up a tent. The pod is compact too, it fit on one side of my large luggage plus a travel bassinet. The pod is definitely dark inside. I zipped myself up and couldn’t see much besides small amounts of light coming from the ground. Major con: the fan that comes with it does not blow much air. The little pocket for it does not allow air to pass so there is no air circulation inside the pod. The fan is also very small - like a small desk fan. I wouldn’t trust this to keep my kid cool over night. What I did instead: I used our stroller fans and attached it to the bassinet inside to blow air. This worked way better and gave me peace that my kid wouldn’t feel stuffy inside the pod.

    Greater than one week

The slumberpod worked wonders when my husband and I traveled with our 9 month old a few weeks ago! The material is total black out and our daughter slept very well in it! I do highly recommend the fan with it bc our baby monitor has a temperature reading on it and it was approximately 5 degrees warmer in the tent (per the baby monitor) after she was sleeping in it for several hours. Also, we had to cut a hole in the plastic that holds the baby monitor so we could get a good picture. Not a huge deal but maybe plan to set it up and try before you travel so you can have it ready if need be. It was also a little difficult to reach down in the pack n play to pick her up with the slumber pod over it. I am 5’ 9” and she weighs 20 pounds so between my height and her weight the opening just wasn’t quite big enough but overall manageable for a short time!

We had a few week long trips scheduled this year between work, vacation, and visiting family and would be sharing our room with my our daughter. We knew from previous experience that she won’t sleep, she will just talk to us and stare. A friend recommended the SlumberPod and I wish we had found it earlier! She loved sleeping in her tent and slept incredibly well in a full-sun room. We used it with a Pack & Play, which she has officially outgrown. Will try to use an inflatable toddler bed on our next trip and see how that goes. Couple of function notes - It’s helpful to know how to set up before your 1st trip. Not hard, but a little cumbersome. SlumberPod is huge and takes up a decent amount of space, particularly during set up (otherwise, it’s a hair larger than the pack & play). When we stayed in an air conditioned location, we didn’t feel a fan was necessary, but it was 100% needed when we didn’t have AC. Not dangerously hot with the flaps all lifted, but uncomfortable. We used a rechargeable clip on fan. A determined toddler can absolutely get out of this. Yes, it’s pricey, but when used multiple times, more than pays for itself. Very glad we will have this around for the next kid.

We purchased the SlumberPod for a trip to Disneyland where our family of five all stayed in the same hotel room. Our toddler is used to sleeping in their own room in the pitch black, so we were very happy to find this solution. The SlumberPod worked wonderfully for our toddler. It is advertised as a blackout canopy, and that is exactly what it is. Even when placed next to a window with full sun, this thing is as opaque as a wall. Weve even used it when spending a day up the mountain, and it blocks the sun as well outside as it does inside. The opening for a fan works very well, and the baby monitor sleeve ensures that we can see our toddler while they slumber. The only thing that we did not like about the SlumberPod is that the baby monitor sleeve is made of clear plastic, which means it does not allow for airflow. Our baby monitor has a thermometer, and because it couldnt breathe in the sleeve, the heat generated by the monitor from being plugged in and one gave us inaccurate readings of the temperature inside the SlumberPod. That first night of use, we were very concerned by the nearly 90 degree temperature readings within the Pod, but we quickly realized that the monitor was just overheating in the sleeve and that the fan blowing air into the Pod was actually doing a great job at keeping it cool. I may decide to do some DIY modifications to remedy this problem. Other than that, it is a great product that has our familys stamp of approval.

So I think a lot of the positive reviews come from influencers they send the product for free too. ( or discounted) I did 2 stars because It does in fact black out but its so hot inside our baby would wake up sweaty. We bought it for a trip later this month and tried it out this weekend and so thankful we didnt drag this across to world.

I dont know that its fair for me to review this item as its such a useful and amazing tool for so many parents but Ill give it a shot. It is wonderful quality, easy to put up, blocks light well- I really cant complain about the product... Except my child is terrified of it. My child who has blackout windows and sleeps in a dark room for bedtime and naps nearly has a panic attack anytime you try to make him go near this tent. We tried getting inside of it and showing him it was okay, or playing with him around it, we just had it sitting innocently in the corner, we attempted to make a game of peekaboo out of it, and NOPE he wants absolutely nothing to do with it. I am at a loss. He is about to outgrow his pack and play and I dont know how we are going to travel with him (hes not even 2 yet) but I dont think that this SlumberPod is going to be a part of the equation, unfortunately. Its pretty expensive if theres no pay-off and for us it doesnt seem like there will be one.
