With so many controllers out there, what will really win you over will be mostly based on preference and quality. As far as the quality goes, 8bitdo has nailed it with the pro 2 controller. If you like the style of the Playstation controller layout, this will be very familiar for you. The quality of the controller is great, but if you are using this with the Switch, there will be a few features that you will be missing from Nintendos own controllers. You will not have HD rumble, an NFC reader for amiibo, and the ability to wake up the system. There is rumble but will be the same kind of rumble you know from years past. Despite those missing features, there is a lot to love about this controller. It has a lot of customization features such as button mapping, rumble sensitivity, and macros. It has the best D-pad you can get from any modern controller these days. Im only using this on the Switch, but you can also use this on multiple platforms if you are looking for a one size fits all controller. Despite the missing features for the Switch, I would still recommend getting this controller. It has a lot to offer with customizations, the back triggers that you can assign for more ease of use, and a D-pad that is arguably the best that I have ever used. On top of that, the premium feel along with the rest of the buttons and the analog sticks makes this an overall solid controller, and I would highly recommend it!

Hands down one of the best controllers to get for the switch. Works great with both 2D and 3D games. I’ve been using this to play Breathe of the Wild and i rather use the sn30pro+ over the pro controller for Nintendo switch. USB C charging is nice since you can limit the amount of cables needed to charge it. Battery last a long time. I bought a second one cause I loved this one so much. Great buy!

Bought this to use with my RetroPie setup (and my Switch as a bonus). You need to charge the battery pack before updating the firmware (or just pop some AA batteries in). It definitely feels third-party, but its a comfortable controller to use for long periods of time. The D-pad feels nicer than the one on my Switch Pro Controller, and the joysticks are fluid. The L2/R2 buttons are mushy so the Pro controller definitely wins there, but overall its a good controller and I definitely would buy another one. Pros: - Button mapping supported (need to download the software from 8bitdos website) - Rechargeable (has a removable battery pack if youd rather use AA batteries) - Solid D-pad, smooth joysticks - Comfortable grip Cons: - Mushy L2/R2 buttons - Cant wake Switch using this controller

Oh well. Other than that, the Controller is excellent! Great battery life. Also, great design, combining the best bits of Nintendo and Sony controller designs. Compatible with every device Ive tried, so far. If it has Bluetooth, it works (although the Switch itself can be a little temperamental). The travel bag would have been a nice touch, though.

It worked well at first. But it has issues. The 8bitdo website offers a few FAQ but it it doesnt work you have to figure it out yourself. I had a problem where my computer couldnt recognize it. It was stuck with a flashing red LED on top and no amount of holding L + R + Start or Start or any combination or plugging it in could get it to register on my PC. I went to reddit and many people suggested taking out the battery and putting it back in. Unfortunately, this ended up killing the controller completely for some reason. Other people seem to have had similar issues. Anyways, proceed with caution. It sucks because it frequently has issues so its either try to fix it yourself or it doesnt work. I will not be buying another one to replace it. Updated: got it to work again. I have no idea how or why. Like I said, very temperamental controller. It is a good feeling controller, its a shame it acts up so much. At this price point, hard to fullheartedly recommend.

For the Switch when playing solo I love using this controller instead of my Switch Pro controller(I never use Joy-cons while docked, except SM Odyssey) for games like Pokemon/DQ11 that are more menu based due to the position of the D-Pad. Other than that its an extremely well priced and solid controller if you need more for extra people with multiplayer games. It definitely has a very similar feel to the PS4 controller, but luckily far better battery life and USB-C vs Micro(one of my main gripes with the PS4 controller) On the PC it has been fantastic as well, Iove using it to play SNES games (That I do own) that have been modded with some difficulty, translation tweaks etc. But it works great for any game thanks to the software that comes with it that allows you remap buttons for using on the Switch and on PC separately, and many other options. Has worked well for any Stream game Ive tried. The fact that it doesnt have NFC doesnt bother me at all. The one game I might use the NFC often (BoTW) I prefer the Pro controller, but its not like you couldnt undock it, spam your amiibos, then go right back to using the SN30 Pro+. Would it be nice if I could turn on the Switch with the controller? Sure, but personally lifting a corner of the Switch out of the dock and back in really isnt too much a hassle. My only small issue is that the + and - (start and select) are a little out of the way. Side note about syncing, It is very important to follow the initial syncing instructions for the specific device you are syncing to (particularly being aware of the button combo that is different for every device type). Once I correctly synced the controller I have not had an issue with just pressing start to reconnect the controller. Note that you will have to resync to the Switch, after Syncing to your PC and vice versa(at least with Bluetooth) just like with the PS4 controller. The bottom line is that this controller is a fantastic Switch controller alone with the same build quality as an official Nintendo Pro Controller at a cheaper price. If you want something for Switch and PC, the value increases. If you want something for Switch, PC, Android, and Raspberry Pi...you get the point. I would also recommend watching the many youtube reviews that go into great detail about controller.

This is the perfect controller for the Nintendo switch. This controller is the best all around controller for 2d games and 3D games. I got this over the pro controller because the pro controller lacks a good d pad to play 2d games witch the switch has tons new and classic 2d games. The d pad on this controller is just perfect! And I know because I’ve used my brothers pro controller. The only negative thing I have to say about this controller is it doesn’t wake up the switch, but that is very minor to what this controller offers. If your looking for the perfect controller to play 2d and 3D games this is a must.

Better material, better design, more intuitive, better suited for BOTW, better construction, and compatible with anything. This controller is a masterpiece, while the pro (nintendo) controller has issues in all of the categories listed above. Most notably wobbly hand grips that are not one piece in frame but the third, and a garbage D-pad that would make Ken and Ryu go home and be a Family Man, along with clunky buttons.

Works easily and as readily as described, super comf, least expensive way to enjoy a controller across multiple platforms. Love it. The bag for it is a nice added value, letting me keep it and it’s cable with instructions together with no fuss. I do wish the bag were reinforced but as is, it does a good job of protecting it. Certainly more than nothing at all, and it was free.
