There is nothing basic about this product, from self-connection to my Echo show to the build and the independent switches (which come in handy to turn off some appliances/devices when they dont have a switch or its hard to reach).

My wife loves it! We have three table lamps in our living room separated by 8-foot distances. It was a pain to turn on or off all three because the switches were on the cord. Now all she has to do is say Alexa, turn on(off) Living Room. It also helps to be able to selectively control each lamp by its separate name. Lastly, its easy to set up, except for the separate names; the menu option is not immediately obvious.

While I couldn’t get the QR code on the user’s guide for this Amazon Basics Power Strip to work, this still took only a couple of minutes to set up. The QR code on the power strip did work, which made setting this up from within the Alexa app very easy. This is really handy for a room that I have with minimal outlets. I can now run extra lights and actually see what I’m doing in there. Even nicer, I can turn them on and off with a simple spoken command. Very pleased with the design, function, and flexibility of this Amazon Basics power strip. As the parent of kiddos with autism, there are causes near and dear to my heart. I got this Amazon Basics Smart 3-Outlet Surge Protector Power Strip with 2 USB Ports to use in my home office for my laptop and two desk lights. The two USB ports are handy when I want to charge my phone, smartwatch, or other devices (without taking up the plug space). It has a long power cord (3.5 feet in length) so it is easy to route it around furniture. I absolutely love that this works with Alexa - it only took a few minutes to set up (the only lag was my phone recognizing the Bluetooth device). Ive labeled each plug in Alexa so that I can turn off the individual plug outlets when I so desire (to save energy too). I also love that the powerstrip is surge protected so I can rest assured that my electronic devices are protected. I love that there is extra space between the three outlets, so there is room for the bulkier plugs (light certain lights have). I love this so much that I have purchased another one for my kitchen.

This is the 2nd Amazon Basic product I have bought that doesnt really work. Well lets say its unreliable. First product was a light bulb. I was thinking it was too far from the router. This strip outlet is in the same room as the router as it is just as unreliable as the light bulb.

I have been having problems with the USB ports on the power strip. They just randomly stop working and the only way to get them back to working is to unplug the strip from the wall and then re-plug it in. This has now happened 3 or 4 times in the course of a month or so. Power-cycling at the strip itself doesnt appear to clear the issue, have to unplug it from the wall. Is anyone else seeing issues like this?

So, I got this because it works with Alexa and you dont have to have a hub to use it. Just plug it in and Alexa can find it and connect with it! It took me a minute to get the whole individual outlet figured out when trying to use an Alexa routine that turns one outlet on and another one off, but once I got that figured out this works great! I dont like how each outlet has a light as well as an actual light for the entire unit itself, but I bought dimmer stickers and it blocks those out. I do like there is a button for each individual outlet, or you can push the master button to either turn all on or turn all off as well. Also like that it has 2 USB ports so you can charge your phone and tablet without using up any of the outlets! This has performed well for me so far!

I like that it has a surge protector. And you can control each socket individually, although I hoped you can control the usb individually too. It is alittle heavier than most powerstrip which makes it feel more solid. I have been using it for over 2 months and so far no problem. Also note that this is for light to medium use. Do not use it for power hungry appliances like space heaters.
