Perfect for Content Creation/ Gaming @1080p240, Video Editing and Making Thumbnails in Photoshop. It’s a Behemoth of a CPU. 16C/32T Goodness ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I replaced my I9 9900k with the 5950x - my first switch back to AMD since their Thunderbird days. I didnt have much faith in the new Intel Alder Lake, and Ive been impressed by AMD lately but I wasnt going to wait for Zen 4. The 5950x runs a little hotter than the 9900k - (at least with my Corsair H115i RGB Platinum) but multi-threaded performance is awesome.

Make sure you cool this thing well, they like to run warm out of the box at 105W. That being said..My 2 year old Gigabyte Aorus B450 Elite with 64GB of 2667-DDR4 running a Ryzen 7 2700 (8-core 16-thread) assembled genomes at 50% of the speed using the number cores against my Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro Wi-Fi with 128GB DDR4 3600 running a Ryzen 9 5950x (16-cores 32-threads). Just goes to show how much faster the cores on the new processor are in conjunction with the high frequency memory and X570 board. So now that I have twice as many cores for bioinformatics, my assemblies will be 4X faster...Hot Dammm. You can now assemble a human genome at home, if so desired.

If you have a mix of needs that range from one core to tons of cores then this processor is an especially good fit because of the high boost frequency for a few cores and the large number of cores. For example gaming (which uses relatively few cores) and 3D rendering (which uses all the cores). Im very happy with both the gaming and 3D rendering performance. If gaming is your main priority then the products with fewer cores like the 5600X are just as good for that purpose and a lot cheaper.

Way Overpriced considering performance per dollar. Also it doesn’t boost to advertised clock speed and has little headroom to overclock even with expensive liquid coolers. My USB port also occasionally stop functioning. Disappointed.

This is a great CPU, it’s too expensive through Amazon, which makes a lot of people try to get one of the cheap ones through unsavory sellers. I did at first, but it never arrived so I had to wait for a refund and just bought one shipped and sold from Amazon. It’s a great CPU, now if only I could get my hands in a GPU close to MSRP. I have the 5950x currently paired with a PNY RTX 3060 Revel, I get about 55-60fps playing Icarus on Ultra settings on a 1920x1080 monitor.
