AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-core, 32-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor

It’s a beast. Watch your PCIe settings in BIOS though. On initial AMD 5,000 series installs, I’ve been getting the VGA light. (X570 & B550 boards). This has happened to me a few times now. It’s only on new builds. The fix is to put the old cpu in and change the PCIe setting in BIOS.

If you have a mix of needs that range from one core to tons of cores then this processor is an especially good fit because of the high boost frequency for a few cores and the large number of cores. For example gaming (which uses relatively few cores) and 3D rendering (which uses all the cores). Im very happy with both the gaming and 3D rendering performance. If gaming is your main priority then the products with fewer cores like the 5600X are just as good for that purpose and a lot cheaper.

I am a Motion Graphics Designer and a an offline editor and I built my own super computer using this amazing processor. Ive been using Avid, Premiere, and Resolve for different jobs and they are performing very well! After Effects and C4D are amazing on this thing but make sure you have 64GB minimum no matter what the requirements say.

After almost 15 years with only Intel, I moved to this beast and it is stunning.

Update: Ended up continue having issues, returned and had to reinstall windows. Looking at the current threads, it looks like people with Asus hero boards (also dark) are having issues, so I would try a different motherboard.

I upgraded from the Ryzen 3950xt to this one. Great improvement by far. Be aware this is a very hot processor so choose the right cooler AIO or otherwise. Do a lot of research as there is plenty of great coolers out there. Use new products not used as this is expensive.

Its fast multi-core, its fast single core. Went from a 3900XT to this, and whoa, its a totally different level.

Dont buy it, no more scalpers
