I liked I could use my Discover Cred card bonus points to pay for the watercolor block that is pretty expensive. I wanted the block instead of loose pad paper because it doesnt buckle and warp when wetted down to paint.

Ive always used Strathmore Watercolor Blocks. Although the quality of Strathmore is nice, now that Ive used Arches I cant imagine using anything else. Arches seems to be in a category all its own when it comes to paper quality. Arches is substantially thicker, holds water and color very well, and when using the watercolor block does not buckle even when using a lot of water. You can use tons of water and layers of paint, and it never effects the paper underneath the piece youre working on. I couldnt be happier. Plus the price of this paper when buying from Amazon is fantastic and affordable.

Using this paper in my art classes. It makes a big difference using good paper with how the paint sits on the page and responds i.e how it is absorbed. Much nicer result.

How could any paper be better than Arches? This block is great as the paper does not need to be stretched and it can be used at anytime.

Arches is the bomb! I have used nothing else with as much success for the last 30 years. It holds up well, it is responsive and durable, and it shows off the pigment without deadening it. As a watercolor artist, I have used both the large sheets and the smaller sizes, and each time the paint dries without buckling the paper. You cant go wrong with it. And you will be very happy that you are painting on it.
