08-06-2025It definitely makes a difference to use quality paper.

Greater than one weekOnly complaint: All the paper rips unevenly from the block. The black bonding is like a solid glue, rather than just binding to hold the block together.

> 3 dayNothing beats a good quality watercolor paper. Arches are the best, my painting has improved just by using this wonderful paper. The paper holds the water nicely making wet into wet do just what I had intended.

> 3 dayI am a pro artist with a short tone of paper from various makers and trust me please: Beginners: This paper is a must if you want to be successful. Veterans well if you are a WC vet and you do not use Arches, I am sorry for you if you have not used this brand. If not Canson(doomed to fail) Strathmore, lololol no. Just no Strathmore. Bockingford good W and N is ok, but you may not be getting 100% cotton they have a line that is 25%. Look find another company that has been around making water color paper since CC sailed to America. I dare you. They know. Arches does not need your business. You need Arches though. Blocks are necessary if you do not want to tear up full sheets and are running low on painters tape. I can not endorse 25% mark up for glued edges even for Arches. Hobby Lobby, ftw.

> 3 dayNice texture to do watercolors on, careful about lifting. Have to be very gentle or Paper starts to fuzz. Very cost effective compared to other art stores. Will buy again.
