> 3 dayI am on my third one of these. I initially ordered two. One was DOIA on arrival. It was rapidly replaced, no problem. But now about 3 months later the replacement is starting to make really horrible sounds when you open and close the drawer, and its taking an inordinate amount of time identifying discs and starting the burning process. I can do side by side comparisons with the other player, using the same software and the same files. The properly functioning one initializes and starts burning rapidly. The one with the bad noises takes a couple of minutes to even get started burning and it just makes noises that makes me think its going to be failing very soon. So that would mean a 50% failure rate. I dont know if I would buy these again. At least I have an asurion warranty because I think Im going to have to send it back and keep my fingers crossed that the new one will work. But the other drive, the one that works, has worked perfectly, quietly, and very fast.

> 3 dayThis is a nice unit but it does not come with software to play discs. Had I known that before hand I would not have purchased it. Demerits for ASUS.

> 3 dayThis seems like a sound Blu-ray drive and I do like it. Software must be purchased in order to play Blu-ray discs on the PC. PowerDVD is an example of the software needed.

> 3 dayWorked straight out of the box like a champ. It have been chewing through discs non-stop for days now with zero error. I connected the device to multiple USB 3.0 hubs to see if I can duplicate any of the difficulties others have been reporting with Windows 10. Intel, Asus, and Fresco controllers all worked. No issues with Windows 10 and the previously listed drivers. Reading the negative feedback, I think the issue lies with the end user. First, it will not just play a blu-ray. Do some research before purchasing a product. Second, to everyone complaining that device would not power on when plugged in. It wouldnt power up by just plugging it in. There is a power switch on the back that some what blends into the design of the unit. In the defense of those claiming all of their units were faulty, the power switch is stiff and difficult to operate. A quick glance at the user manual shows how to properly power up the device.

> 3 dayThough the description clearly says it works with Mac 10.6 or higher, it does not. ASUS support was no help, and in fact, quite frustrating. When my issue was “elevated” to the next support tier, all I got was a phone call 4 days later telling me to look at my email to follow those directions and if that didn’t work, to fill out the attached form. Come on ASUS — work *with* me to fix the problem. BTW, the emailed solution didn’t work and there was no way I was going to fill out a form to wait yet again to try again with them. Complete waste of time.
