> 3 dayThe player works well. I purchased a new computer, and it has a very high end Nvidia graphics card, and it supports 4K video. I have 2 LG 4k monitors. I also huge a huge collection of Blue Ray disc, and I want to be able to play them on my computer. The software suite is totally waaaaaaaay out of date, and there is nothing to play BD disc with, so I had to purchase the software for $70. Then I ran into the HDCP problem. With all of the brand-new equipment, which by the way is totally HDCP compliant, it only works well when totally disconnected from and external monitors. otherwise, it is a nightmare. I use a thunderbolt 4 dock hooked up with display port. I had to disconnect all of that and hook up with a HDMI cable, and a specifc one at that. Too much trouble, and extra exspense.

> 3 dayI put in a lot of effort to write a review that would hopefully help others looking for a quality DVD player. I left this app to lookup a term I wanted to use. When I came back my review was gone. It has happened before. I am done with reviews.

> 3 dayI got this drive to backup my movies. It is a great addition to my PC. I especially appreciated the fast installation. As soon as I plugged it into my PC, BANG! I was up an running. Plus, I am partial to Asus products. They make solid products. Everything from Laptops to Motherboards. Thank you Asus for making good products.

> 3 dayThis is a nice unit but it does not come with software to play discs. Had I known that before hand I would not have purchased it. Demerits for ASUS.

> 3 day3.5 stars. It looks like an artist designed it. The rear of-off switch is hard to operate and feels like it could break off at any minute. The front open and close switch is also hard to use. More attention was paid to the giant bright, faceted blue light on top, than making it a bombproof, robust external optical drive. It just feels flimsy and cheap. My other optical disc drives are internal LG drives and housed in aluminum enclosures to use externally. They cost a lot less than this drive and they feel like you could hammer nails with them. For the amount they charge for the ASUS optical disc drive, they could have built a better drive. Ive had no issues burning M-Disc, BD-R and DVDs with this drive. The review is for design, which is disappointingly cheap and hard to operate. Daniel D. Teoli Jr. Archival Collection Daniel D. Teoli Jr. Small Gauge Film Archive Daniel D. > 3 dayThis drive is amazing, but there are things to know about it! What to expect is an extremely high quality Disc writer. It isn’t blazing fast on reads, and I haven’t tried burning a blu-ray, so I can’t comment there. However- this is important- IT DOES NOT COME WITH ON-BOARD BLU-RAY MEDIA SOFTWARE I didn’t realize this when I bought it, but it can not plug-and-play blu ray movies, you actually need to download software to be able to play movies. It works beautifully with the proper software (4K, HD audio, immersive). I gave this 5 stars because as a tool (and what it’s made for) it’s incredibly high quality and a painless installation. Also, it’s kinda big, check out the dimensions for sure. I like it, but it’s definitely not for everyone.
