I’ve had this going on three years. Pros: Great picture quality Can be used in dim and dark rooms Very easy to setup Customer service via BenQ assigns you a contact person and they are the ones who answer the phone when you call Lamp is easy to change Warranty service is prompt if required Cons: Not good in bright rooms Generates substantial heat and fan noise in a 14x14 room. I find the operating volume distracting during quiet scenes in movies. Noticeable syncing issues for some movie and video game content. Movie sync usually resolves itself. Gaming sync is only noticeable in competitive games. I’m about to receive my second replacement unit under warranty. I would say the unit is running 8 hours per day, 7 days a week. So it’s not that the unit isn’t durable. But it isn’t perfect. TL:DR High value medium-large, dark room projector from a great company.

Stay away! Ever since Ive had this projector, 3 or 4 out of every 10 startups only half of the screen works and I have to turn it off (it actually turns itself off) and restart it. If that was the only issue, and its a big one, I suppose I could live with it and I have thus far. Now, with just over 200 hours on it, a bad aberration has showed up on the bottom left of the screen and its not the lens nor my actual pull-down screen. Definitely a internal issue and it can be seen during bright scenes or when a uniform color is displayed. Extremely annoying, something that once you see you cant unsee. Im crossing my fingers that I can get BenQ to RMA it even though it was purchased from a third-party seller through Amazon. I wouldnt take the risk if I were you!

Amazing 4K/3D DHR upgrade to my home theater. Vivid picture quality at a very affordable price. We are not going back to a regular TV.

This projector has HDMI ports HDCP 2.2 compliance so not an ordinary HDMI cable works with 4K sources. Youll need HDCP 2.2 certified cables

It was OK for few months and then a white dot started to appear on the bottom left corner. I contacted customer support many times but no help was given. Beware!

I don’t know exactly how I feel about this projector because HDR was one of the main reasons why I bought this projector but it doesn’t seem to work properly. The projector is good and the picture looks decent but once you apply the HDR feature it’ll disappoint you!!! The colors show either very bad or your image will show in green and black. I use HDR 10 supported products with a 2.0b HDMI and it still shows up horrible with HDR on. 4K looks awesome especially at 100” though I will say that! Other then the HDR not working properly, this projector is very good. One thing I would say before I wrap up my thoughts, this thing will heat up your entire room! The fans blow out really hot air so during the summertime make sure you have your AC running when you decide to watch something on this.

We were so excited to have a family movie night. The projector does an amazing job. Then it wouldnt stay on. Kept shutting off. Flashing temp? Its Oregon and september so we have 55 degree nights and its not remotely hot. Tech support was helpful but pointless. Telling me to try this and that. Nothing worked. Im hoping we just got a lemon. Im returning it and if the next one does well Ill change my review.

I feel its important to note that one cannot fully disable motion smoothing on this device. Even with the setting changed to off there is some smoothing. Its especially bad with 2d animated films/TV, or anime where some elements on screen update at a framerate less than the video framerate. it looks awful. my suspicion is that device uses motion smoothing to add frames when there is a mismatch between video framerate and display refresh rate, instead of something like the more common 3:2 pulldown. in my opinion this was a bad move, as the artifacts from motion smoothing are far more noticeable than a flicker from simple frame pulldown. It can be mitigated, or fully eliminated, by setting the projector refresh rate to be equal to the video framerate, but this is not possible on many devices (e.g. chromecast), and it takes a good ~5 seconds or so for the projector to switch between refresh rates. additionally some video framerates may simply not be supported by the projector.

Be amazed by authentic HDR intense binge watching and sports viewing experiences -- even in well-lit rooms. It’s easy with TK850i 4K HDR smart home projector powered by Android TV. Glide through simple set up, then kick back and enjoy 100”+ projected 4K UHD 8.3 million pixel pictures and stellar audio. Whether it’s your first home theater projector or an upgrade, you’re sure to love TK850i with Google-certified Android TV sporting events, movies, and games from the Google Play Store.
