05-06-2025This hand vac is CRAZY STRONG! When I first opened the box and saw the vacuum I loved the look, loved the extremely light weight of it, loved the ability to adjust the position but I was very concerned about the size of vacuum spout that sucks up the dirt. Its smaller than most others. I have a shark hand vacuum and the suction size of this B&D is roughly 1/3 of the size. BUT........ It had a a bit of a charge so I gave it a try on a runner rug I have in my entryway...... I vacuum it every single day because we come and go and we also have a dog. So, its continually getting lots of dust and debris or what not. This hand vacuum is so strong and works so well that I had to find the right angle for the vacuum itself so it would not suck the runner rug up! I got about half of the runner done before the little bit of charge it had in it died and when I looked at what was in the vacuum dirt holder I was shocked! There was so much dirt, sand and dog hair that was vacuumed up that I couldnt believe my eyes! I took pictures. What you are seeing is less than half of my 5 ft X 2 ft runner rug that was vacuumed with the Black & Decker AND I had JUST vacuumed it with my Shark last night! I poured the dirt out onto a paper plate so you can really see what was in there however there is still a ton of dirt caked on the plastic of the interior. THIS HAND VAC IS POWERFUL. Im keeping it. My only complaint is the size of the suction because it takes a little longer when it covers less area but that is easy for me to overlook given the power if this vacuum. I highly doubt there is any other hand vacuum as strong as this one and I cant wait til its fully charged to go and finish the job on all of my runners as well as in my car!

> 3 daylight and portable, yet powerful enough to suck up cobwebs, dust bunnies, crumbs, stray litter, bits of debris, etc. ive used this around the house, in the car, and anywhere i need to clean without being tethered by an electrical cord or the larger standard upright or canister type. the pivoting nozzle is extendable to get into nooks and crannies, able to lock into the position needed. the flip up brush on the nozzle is good for softer surfaces such as upholstery or drapes. i found the nozzle great for use in corners where stair treads meet risers, or on clean up the top of shelf up high. the first button on the handle releases the nozzle so that it can be pivoted to the position necessary. the second button is a slider that powers on the unit on or off. engage the pivoting nozzle until it is against the units body to make it compact and ready for its charging base. the powered charging bases plastic seems flimsy compared to the vacuums heavy duty plastic, but its sufficient to cradle the vacuum for charging. the base can be set on the counter, table or floor, or mounted on the wall with the included mounting screws. a dim blue led light flashes slowly when the unit is docked into its charging base. upon being fully charged, the led discontinues illuminating to indicate it is ready. when the vacuum is in use, the led illuminates steadily for on. when the vacuum starts to run out of charge during use, the led flashes quickly as a warning before all the power is discharged. first time charging can take up to 4 hours with subsequent charging time seeming to be less than that. this isnt meant to replace corded units ability to run non-stop. this limited amount of time on a battery-based product is sufficient for on and off use while doing a quick cleanup. continuous usage running time may vary. approximately 15 minutes is my best time thus far. a lot of small factors impact how long it can run continuously, such as suctioning effort, operating temperature, how much debris is collected, etc. the pivots cylindrical dirt chamber opens easily for emptying of collected debris. my favorite feature is that the nozzle and cylindrical dirt chamber unit is removable for a thorough washing. push the side button on the nozzle, and the assembly releases from the body of the vacuum. a removable and washable pre-filter and filter is inside the chamber and the filter itself is replaceable. i personally like washable filters due to their reuse ability. thats why i also have a dyson upright. the dirt chamber has an internal rubber flap where the nozzle joins it, which helps trap debris from falling back out the nozzle. this is perfect for when you use the unit to suck up pesky insects or food items, and you dont want them to escape back out should the unit be powered off. the black and silver color scheme is attractive enough should this unit be left in view while charging instead of hidden away. according to the instructions, the lithium battery can be removed. obtaining a replacement 20-volt lithium battery might be possible when available.

Greater than one weekIts a nice little vacuum. I have been buying them for years. This particular model leaks debris when placed in the charger, the flap inside is flimsy and does not locks well to prevent dirt from coming out. I usually place the vacuum in the palm of my hand and turn it on to make sure debris is all in. Secondly, the batteries died out after about 16 months and to replaced them you have to solder them and also, they are expensive- Its cheaper to replaced vacuum than replacing the batteries. I wish they correct these flaws since it is a nice vacuum.

> 3 dayThank you Amazon for having a sale on this portable vacuum cleaner! I just got this about a week ago and only used it once for some light vacuuming of dust and hairs which worked perfectly. As directed by the instructions, I charged it for 24 hours, actually a little bit more, before first usage. I know using it once and plus for light usage doesnt speak well for my review but I want to point out that I have some history with Black and Decker Pivot vacuums. My previous portable vacuum cleaner was also a Black and Decker, specifically PHV1800. I had that vacuum for about 7+ years and I love the suction power and pivot design. Of course since its cordless, the battery wore out over time. Now it only lasts a few minutes after a full charge. However Ive never had an issue with it. In fact I never replaced the filter. I was meticulous in cleaning the canister and filter when it was medium dirty or sometimes even just light dirty. For the filter, I would shake out the dark gray junk and then use a toothpick to pick out the junk in each fold of the filter. Again because of the battery issue I thought it was finally time to retire the old one and buy a new one. I was a little hesitant to buy the BDH2000PL after reading reviews of the vacuum going dead after about a month or so for some unknown reasons. After some consideration, I decided to give Black and Decker the benefit of a doubt based on past experiences. I never had any issues with my previous B&D portable vacuum. Also years ago my family got a B&D Dustbuster and we never had issues then. So I am of the mindset that B&D makes reliable products at good consumer level prices. I like this vacuum so far and yes it hasnt died yet. Battery withstanding, this new one is a big improvement over my old PHV1800. It is a lot lighter and also has less mass. The canister can now be completely removed from the main unit for a thorough cleaning without lugging the the whole thing around like the old one. I like that the brush is now integrated into the nozzle. With the old one, the brush was a separate thing that I left plugged into the charger base and was too lazy or never noticed it to take it out and use it. The pivot feels like it has a smoother ratchet than the old one. One thing that worries me a bit though is the vacuum doesnt sound as loud as my old one. Maybe I am just equating loudness with suction power or I am not knowledgeable of any technology improvements B&D has done to this vacuum. I will just have to use it more to see how it goes. Oh one more thing, my old one actually has two On levels: regular power or high power vacuuming. Whenever I use the vacuum, the old one, I naturally push the switch up to the highest point until it stops. I forgot the old ones switch has a middle point before reaching the end. So I guess for my usage maybe the new one is an improvement because it removes the middle point which I never used. But so far this vacuum works. I also like the improvements over the old one so Im convinced this new one is great. :)

> 3 dayTL/wr: A great performer with minor quibbles. I ordered this to replace the older green and white model that had worked well enough for year as long as I replaced the battery every second year or so. As I was about to buy another $25 dollar battery and go through the hassle of dissasembly, I thought about new battery technology and started looking for a hand-vac upgrade. Interestingly enough all reviews and price point led me to the newer model of the vacuum Id had for years. Ive used it for a year now for the general chores of (dry) coffee spills dusting in corners etc. Its main use is strewn cat litter when cleaning up around the box. Its used at least four to five times a week for this purpose so after a year I feel the vac has had a good trial. Compared to the older model it definitely has more suction and the suction lasts longer. Ive noticed no significant drop in performance over this year while the old model would have already started to show some recharge fatigue. It retains the okay crevice tool/extension and the small flip down brush for whatever a small flip down brush is good for. Break down and cleaning remain exactly the same as the old model and two of my favorite features is how easy it is to empty and the washable final filter. Whats not so good? I have only two quibbles that knocked off the fifth star. Neither are insurmountable but I dont give five stars easily. One: The new upright charger stand style is a downgrade from the previous model and it can be a little fiddly to get it to seat. Two: the routing of the exhaust (same as the old model) tends to blow the mess away from the vacuum just as youre trying to pick it up so you have to sort of chase the bits around the counter/floor from several different angles making all jobs take longer than if the exhaust was a re-routed or better diffused. In summary: Id buy it again and I think it really hits a sweet spot in price/performance ratio.

> 3 dayWill this replace your canister vacuum? No. The power is nowhere near what you get out of shop vac or a decent canister. That said, who wants to haul out the vacuum from the closet and drag it into the kitchen to pick up a handful of spilled sesame seeds, or pickup small debris on car mats, or capture a stray dust bunny in a corner. This thing is all about convenience. It’s always handy and easy to deploy. The features are nice and it looks well build. I just hope it lasts because we don’t like the idea of creating more e-waste. B&D should be ashamed that they created a product that uses a non serviceable battery. And we should be ashamed we bought it, but there’s no hand vac we found with replaceable batteries. So good enough piece of cleaning equipment. I suspect better than most.

Greater than one weekI love the vacuum, especially the section power. However the docking station is flimsy. Hard to get the vacuum in right. I had the older model and the docking station was sturdy and easy to access.

> 3 dayLittle hand held vacuum is so powerful; the lifetime of the product and battery life and charge are amazing. I had the previous model for 10+ years it didn’t brake my son dropped it and the collection bin cracked…it’s still working but glued it and use for my garage know. So,I got a new one for indoor. Overall the best. I did compare different ones before repurchase and none stand up to the suction power. Would love if they made a pet hair attachment for it!! If so none on the market could stand up to it.

> 3 dayIm so disgusted with handheld vacs! I would have loved this one to have 2 levels of power but it is pretty strong on suction. The most frustration feature was trying to pull the Crevice tool out and the killing yourself getting it put back in place! I worked on it for over 45 mins and my husband took a look at it and figured it out, pulling front part of crevice tool out while pushing down on the end of it where the lines are. pretty hard to do but it is doable, even for a 76 yr old. like the compart size, sturdiness. Its better than the Shark I had...

> 3 dayAlthough I generally like this vacuum, it has a narrow throat that tends to clog easily if you are picking up pieces of any size, then you will have to gently bang the vacuum to dislodge any stuck pieces. Also the canister is on the smaller size and needs to be emptied frequently. These issues aside, this is still a quality vacuum, hopefully it has a longer lifespan than my previous shark.
