First of all, this is a pretty good design, with superior suction, and a thoughtful, user friendly design. But, as previously pointed out, when the batteries fail, Black & Decker really lets the customer down by not providing a replacement battery pack, even though it’s extremely easy for the end user to access that battery pack for replacement. But, if you’re tech oriented, you can change the batteries with a bit of work and some skills. The first issue, is getting a cell out of the pack, in order to indemnify it for purchase. They’re readily available, but you need that part number that’s printed on each cell. Also, it’s a bit of a challenge to get one out to see that number. The first thing that must be done is to take photos of the battery pack from both sides, for future reference when trying to connect the new cells together. Then, use some needle nose pliers, getting them under the metal straps that connect the cells together, and pry the straps from the cells. But, after doing so, the cells still won’t just slide out of the holder. It’s too tight. But, I used a deep 3/8 drive socket, of a diameter that was almost as large as the battery cells, and I used it, with a hammer, to drive the cells out of the holder. As I said, before I did any of this, I took photos of both sides of the battery pack for reference, so that I would be able to still see how the cells were connected to each other, after they’d been removed from the pack. Then, I inserted new cells into the pack, and referencing my photos, I connected those cells together, using bits of the original straps, and my soldering iron, to reconnect each cell. I was successful. But, I soon came across a problem that made me wish I’d never spent the money for the cells and went to all that work, as about a month later, the motor’s bearings failed, and just like the battery pack, B & D won’t sell you a new motor! I have 2 of these, but I can’t remember which one is older. But, I think it was the newer on that lost its motor. That should mean the motor failed after about 7 years. From what I’ve read in other reviews, that just may be about the most one can expect from it. Even if you can replace the batteries, it really doesn’t make sense to do so, as it cost me around $50.00 for the cells, and the whole vac is only $75! So, I only saved about $25, and I was still stuck with an old vac, whos motor soon failed! But, as I can’t find another brand that has this kind of suction and thoughtful design (& believe me, I’ve tried!), I just bought my 3rd one!

I love this handheld based on the suction. That said, the attachments are built in and leave a little to be desired. I wish it had an attachment to use on fabric / to vacuum a sofa. BUT... the suction is still fantastic! Also it is super easy to clean and empty. Would recommend.

Over the last decades, I have had many manual vacuums...starting with corded ones and on to battery-powered ones. I chose this one after expertly reviewing customers reviews. I agree with most favorable assessments: this is a good handheld vacuum. I like the filter set-up for cleaning, and I especially like the sucking force! Unfortunately, the head/mouth of the device is such that it is too close to the ground so particles as high as 2-3mm are passed over. There is plenty of suction power to get them but the vacuum mouth has no way to lead them in . You just have to raise the vacuum to get them in on the 2nd or 3rd pass. Otherwise a well-working product worth its extra cost for the power.

Im a fan of great design so lets start out with the pluses: I love the adjustable nozzle on this thing and the way it looks and ease of docking in the charging station. Its fairly lightweight too. Now the minuses: I think this was designed for a very quick pick ups--the suction is fantastic in the first 5-10 minutes and then starts dwindling very quickly, even after a full charge. The dirt cup lid opens at a 90° angle which makes it awkward to tap over a garbage can, and usually lets a bunch of the junk I just sucked fall all over the floor. Very aggravating. The lid also accidentally opens sometimes, which is a huge negative when youre trying to clean up, not spread more dirt. The nozzle is nice and wide, but pet hair, bits of wrappers etc. get sucked up and then clogged in the flap that leads to the dirt cup, reducing the suction to nearly 0 and requiring that you stop your task and get a tool to somehow pull that junk out. Overall I would give this five stars for the look and design but two stars for the actual function. Ive had this Hoover hand vac for three years and its a workhorse — I can vacuum nearly an entire 1200 square-foot house on one charge. It has a smaller nozzle, but Ill trade that any day for the suction and performance: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QF68YTM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It’s a good vacuum but not a great vacuum. I don’t think the folding feature adds much and the dust door feels flimsy.

Its lite, easy to handle, easy to store, good size, its powerful ....BUT, its soooo NOISY!!! I bought it to vacuum the steps instead of using my Miele canister v.c. which is heavier. However, the little brush attached to the nozzle in the cordless hand vac doesnt do the job well. I wish there will be a larger brush to attach for this purpose. As a result, I havent used it more than once. Too bad!

I bought this for small cleanups in the kitchen but I have used it for so much more. It is the best small vacuum Ive ever had from the pivoting head to the easy empty cannister. The suction is phenomenal and I couldnt be happier with this purchase. You have to get one, you wont be disappointed.

It’s been a while since I bought a small vac, so maybe I missed the revolution, but this thing is so powerful. You get it within an inch of dirt, it’s going in. I was hypnotized staring at the dirt and seeing it fly in from distance. And it’s very easy to use and feels well built. Very glad I spent a little extra versus those at a lower price point. If you need a versatile, powerful small vac, I highly recommend this one.

I purchased this last August and had a problem with it recently. I contacted their representative and they took my information and promptly sent me a replacement with no questions asked. I really like this for my small apartment and recommend their products.
