This device is awesome. I wanted to integrate an entertainment system with Alexa. This device bridges that gap. It operates everything I need. Xbox, TV, Amplifier, everything turns on, scrolls through menus, adjusts settings. I am pleased and can recommend this. It does take a little effort to learn and setup, but once its set, its a solid smart home improvement.

Wanted to have it control my bed frame and ceiling fan, which both appear to be RF devices. Since it didn’t respond to the IR learning. Both appliances I don’t have manual for anymore, and both was able to detect the frequency and claimed it learned, but couldn’t actually control after. Tried many times over, couldn’t get it to work. Thought it was defective until I tried it with a tower fan and TV. Those worked just fine. However, the tower fan control lacked Alexa swivel and speed control. Only on/off, which a cheap plug variant would have handled…. Only on/off makes it pretty useless with Alexa.

I bought the RM4 Pro for an awning remote. It learns IR control well and works well. I try to use an RF control but it doesnt work. The RM4 learns the RF but will not send it when to the Sunsetter Awning.

It works perfectly for an IR Blaster that is connected to Home Assistant. My recommendation is to not have it connected to the internet.

Too bad zero stars is not an option. I tried this product a couple of years ago with success. It doesnt like routers with both 2.4 and 5 Ghz connections (i.e. any router in the last decade). It also doesnt like any wifi system with more that 15 connections (i.e. not a smart home). And dont even think about a mesh system. The support is also iffy. They are supposed to be working on a LoRA system. While I would like such a device, I will let someone else take the first one. Im taking to you, Paul Hibbert!

I purchased this product after reading some blog posts from others that had used it to control non-smart devices. Im a fairly technical person and was excited about using this with Homebridge to add to my Home Kit ecosystem. I tried multiple times to setup the device in the Broadlink app but couldnt figure it out until today (over a month after purchase). Once setup, the basics were easy. The app prompted to update the firmware, which worked as expected. Over a month after purchase I finally got to try learning a remote. Broadlink doesnt have a partnership with my ceiling fan manufacturer (Stile) so I tried to manually add my remote (they also dont have a ceiling fan category so I had do this as a UserDefine appliance). The device was able to detect the RF frequency of my remote (which is not the same frequency as documented from the manufacturer) but when I try to learn a button it never sees my input. Im only leaving this review because Im past the point of return, literally. I cant return this item. Do not buy this. Their app is horrible (I didnt even mention how scrolling the list of appliances to add is not intuitive) and the hub itself just doesnt work.

I received my item and the packaging was a little strange, with no plastic wrap around the device. I followed the instruction to add It to my network without success, I then realized it was a used product with someone else WiFi info stored. I had to reset it and now its working, very disappointed about the service, but the device does the job very well and Im pretty impressed about it.

Let me start by saying: Ive *mostly* got it working . . . after many hours of effort. The Harmony remote I was using for my bedroom A/V system is about to die, and I didnt want to purchase another Harmony (since theyre discontinued), so I thought Id give this a shot. Whole different experience from Harmony. First, BroadLink did not recognize *any* of my devices, so everything had to be built from scratch. That meant learning every IR command for each device from the Harmony. But it worked, and I can now control all of the devices from my iPhone as promised. Then it came time to construct scenes. Unlike the Harmony (which walks you through this process quickly and easily), Broadlink pretty much leaves you on your own to figure out how to get everything to do what you want--and their scanty documentation isnt much help. But after a lot of trial and error, I eventually got everything to do what I want. Im still struggling with the Alexa integration, however. I think the problem is that if you name things a certain way, and create Broadlink scenes a certain way, and then decide that it would be better to have used different nomenclature and programing, you have to get Alexa to unlearn what you had done previously and then relearn the updated settings. So while I get consistent results using buttons in the Broadlink app, I still havent been able to get Alexa voice-commands to reliably trigger the correct scenes in the correct way. Im pretty good with tech stuff though, so Im sure Ill get it working once I have a few more *hours* to spend on setup. Not for the tech-challenged, the impatient, or the feint of heart. Consolation is that this thing is *way* cheaper than a Harmony remote.

Just got it today, but this is perfect so far! I have a ton of different remotes for my theater room, with the drop down screen being RF and most of the devices hidden which makes IR a challenge. I was going to make an arduino control everything with ir and rf blaster, custom code, cloud integration to work with Alexa, etc. Would have taken forever. Instead, I found this little guy (nice and compact and sleek) which does all this for me with some simple setup. Watch the setup video btw, instructions arent great. I can say Alexa, show time and a routine triggers the lights off and a scene i created which turns on the projector, lowers the screen, sound system on, bluray player on, and selects Netflix. Alexa, Shows over and it all turns off, raises the screen, and lights back on. Pretty slick! Time will tell how it goes with any bugs or issues now.
