CALIFORNIA AIR TOOLS CAT-1P1060SP GAL 56DB Air Compressor

My old porter cable pancake compressor was loud enough to wake the dead...to say nothing about the rest of the neighborhood. This guy has a much smaller tank, but is very quiet and perfect for my occasional needs...tire filling, nail guns, etc. Its way too small for running a spray gun, drill, sander, or anything else that needs a sustained, substantial air flow. If you have modest air needs and value your sanity, you should put this unit high on your list. If you need greater air volume, there are larger models from California Air Tools that are also quite quiet.

I purchased this compressor mainly for airbrushing anything from textiles to game miniatures. If Im able to fill up a low car tire or other inflatables, that is a bonus. Although I have not had the opportunity to use it for inflating low car tires, it does work perfectly for indoor airbrushing. The motor runs quiet enough for indoor use. It does vibrate a bit if used on a slick surface like the tile floors I have in my craft room, but placing it against something to prevent it from moving is easy enough. I highly recommend this compressor for airbrushing due to the cost and low noise factor. EDIT: Still a great compressor. I have used it to top off the air pressure in my car tires and it worked great. I did need to purchase an air compressor accessory kit that had a tire chuck and air hose.

The 1 gallon tank is a bit small but seems to work well for me. The noise level is what I expected.

Great customer service , very quiet , no leaks , using for airbrushing at the moment . The pressure gauge (- +)screw has a crack in it , doesn’t look like a big deal, update 1: contacted customer service day i bought it, new part is on its way .great service for sure Update 2: just received the replacement , honestly amazed of how everything was taken care of instantly

Great and quite enough to use in apartments. But to discharge a tank with discharge valve use microfiber towel folded multiple times. I use it mostly to set tubeless tire on my mtb and inflate those tires from time to time.

The self locking fitting leaked if the air hose wasn’t plugged in. Called and left message to service department about it, never heard from anyone. (Part of the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5). Replaced it with a high flow fitting and it easily removed lawn mower blades on a 54 inch deck commercial mower. It also slammed 3 inch framing nails easily.The other part of the 4 star instead of 5 star review is durability. Time will tell, I’m just an occasional user. Nice little , real quiet compressor With An add on air tank, this little guy could preform big jobs.

I dont do construction. I wanted a compressor to blow dust off things, clean my Roomba, de crud my garage--in other words, minor household tasks. And I didnt want to be deafened in the process. This fits the bill perfectly. Its soooo quiet, easy to move around, simple to use. One of my contractor friends was so impressed hes looking into a heavy duty model for his purposes.

Bought as a replacement for my Senco nailer used for trim work. This unit is considerably heavier and a litlle larger. Seems to put out more air. Love it.

This compressor was packaged extremely well and arrive undamaged. (Actually 1 day earlier than expected). I’ve tested it under heavy load for 2 days straight with no issues. Yes it has to fill up the small tank often but does so quicker than any other brand I’ve ever seen. I’ve been a professional Mechanic for over 25 years and have dealt with many air compressors, this one is amazing for its size and output. As for the loudness of the unit... just as described. Very, very quiet. I plan on buying the largest one this company makes for my shop. I hope the quality of this small unit carries over to a larger one.
