Greater than one weekI have been using the same pancake compressor for about 12 years and the noise has always been unbearable. This new compressor is so quiet I dont even notice it running. I havent used it for anything yet besides a few test drives on my brad nail gun but it seems up to the task. I am absolutely overwhelmed by the quiet. I hope this one last as long as the last one but regardless the silence is worth the price.

> 3 dayThis thing is damn quiet! Ive never had a compressor that you could have a conversation while standing next to it, much less one that actually flows a decent amount of air. It has replaced my 6 gallon pancake compressor completely.

> 3 dayFirst off I’d like to start off by saying, I was really excited for this compressor from California air tools. I can’t speak for their other models, but this is for model CAT-4710SQ. Arrived falling out of the box. Regulator does not work Psi gauge stuck at 20psi having never even been turned on. Solenoid valve broken Take it all off to find the tank and fitting are rusted inside. I bought this for airbrushing and now that I’ve gotten it up and running, it’s really nice. The box it was shipped In was too big and I suspect I got a returned unit. But all in all it runs quiet as advertised. I’ve been airbrushing till 1am and it’s great! If you were to buy an equivalent spec compressor made for “airbrushing” you’d have to spend way more than this. I had to: replace all the fittings to brass - the ones that were on it were steel and already rusted inside Change the solenoid or “electromagnetism” as it’s called in the manual- mine arrived busted-the one on it is fragile so don’t strip Take all fittings apart and put Teflon tape-When it arrived it leaked a lot Replace the regulator-mine arrived broke and a quick trip to the harbor took care of it for under $20 I can’t say yours will need all of this stuff too. But you will have to take this think apart to get rid of leaks. It’s not too hard, but if you’re not comfortable working on stuff I’d go with a different model. I updated this from 1 star to 3 after the frustration of dealing with all of this. It works, But it does get hot asf

> 3 dayQuiet and fills quickly. The unit did have a leak where the regulator threads into the tank. This is an easy fix with some ptfe thread sealant and Teflon tape. I would give it 5 stars if it did not arrive with a leak.

> 3 dayIf you are weary of the eardrum-lacerating racket of pancake compressors (and who isnt), do yourself a major favor and move on to this unit. It is every bit as quiet as claimed, and this makes for a huge improvement to the work environment. Another point against the pancake units: quality control has not been great in recent years. Despite the prestige of the brand, two Porter-Cable pancake compressors of mine both developed leaks and other problems that were difficult/impossible to correct satisfactorily. Forget about getting real customer service, alas. By contrast, everything about this compressor speaks quality. Do be aware that the unit is about ten pounds heavier than a pancake compressor. But Ill take that trade every day in return for the dramatic noise reduction. Youre also getting a larger tank here, meaning less cycling. To improve mobility, simply replace the stock rubber feet with a good set of locking casters. Im replacing many power tools based on a reduced noise factor. Goodbye gas blowers and trimmers, hello 40V electrics. What a difference! The assault on ears has continued for far too long. And the menace is serious, with lifetime consequences potentially involved.

> 3 dayMy compressor arrived on time and in good condition. I’m pleased with the overall construction and fits nicely under my work bench. The unit is very quiet as advertised. I use it primarily for servicing my automotive and utility vehicle tires to witch it is we’ll suited. Overall I feel it’s a good value for the money.

Greater than one weekVery happily surprised at how quiet this compressor is! Its not super powerful, but works fine for do it yourself around the house and for working on my vehicles. Also used it to blow out the lines to winterize the small inground pool and RV.

> 3 dayThe noise level really is quite nice. I’m not speaking scientifically, but the noise of the compressor itself pales in comparison to using a small attachment for cleaning out crevices. In other words, blasting dust out of a car seat cushion or door jamb *feels* about 4 times as loud as the noise of the compressor recharging its pressure. I also like being able to adjust the output pressure down to basically 0 psi. On the downside: The recharge span is factory locked to 30psi. This means you can have the compressor kick on at 90psi and stop at 120psi, or kick on at, say, 40psi and stop at 70psi, but you can’t drain the tank all the way down to 10psi and have it charge all the way back to 120psi. I would’ve liked to use something like the latter to slowly bubble some air through a bucket of compost tea without the compressor kicking in every hour. A bit of labeling stickers would be nice too; the manual is fairly complicated.

Greater than one weekThese are great units. I bought the one just up from this one for work with the wheels and that is the best by far. This one is basically the same without the wheels. These are great units. We have had the one at work now for 3 years and use it all the time. It still works just like the day we took it out of the box. I work in a school so we needed something quiet. You cant believe how quite this is. When it starts up with 0 pressure you can hear the air hissing into the tank over the running of the compressor. I bought this one for my home use. I am going to make a cart for mine so I can roll it around. Great product. I would buy another one and I have been recommending them to my friends.
