If you hate spending $35 or more on printer cartridges like I did, get this unit. I can get cartridges for about $2-$5 a pop and the print quality is great. I dont print pictures on it, but I did when I get it. Picture quality is ok(from what I can remember), but for doc printing its great!

IT WORKED GOOD FOR AWHILE AND THEN IT STOPPED PRINTING. IT WOULD GO THROUGH THE MOTIONS BUT WITH NOTHING ON THE PAGE, i TOOK THE PRINT HEAD OUT AND CLEANED IT THOROUGHLY WITH ALCOHOL. IT WAS PRETTY DIRTY. I PUT IT AND THE CARTRIDGES BACK IN AND NOW I GET A PRINT ERROR THAT THE PRINT HEAD IS INAPPROPRIATE FOR USE. HELL FIRE, I JUST PULLED IT OUT OF THE PRINTER. I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET WHO ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, THANK YOU ROBERT D. SMITH

The printer was actually free after rebate with a desktop PC from Frys. I gave it 4 stars because while its great for the average Joe to print photos from the Canon Easy-Photoprint application, Im having a lot of issues getting it to print from any other application, i.e. Adobe Photoshop 7. Granted, Ive only used the drivers from the included cd, and havent spent a huge amount of time troubleshooting, but it ought to work out of the box. I also have a hard time with getting it to grab the paper after I load it. This may be an isolated problem, as Ive seen no other reviewer mention it. Regardless, its been quite handy to print last minute pictures for scrapbooking (when printing in bulk I use Snapfish). The pictures have been bright, clear, and scrapbook quality. For free, I really cant complain.

This product worked well enough initally but I was not at all impressed with its true color abilties when used to print anything other then text. After a few months things only got worse when I began to notice severe ink smears or splotches appearing upon all printed documents. Now its like it is possessed and it only works correctly after about 10 tries. Thanks to the crappy quality of this printer I will soon be purchasing a new one and without a doubt it will not be this model!

Overall - Great quality, average speed prints, crappy software compatibility. You get a good deal for the price. The Easy Web Print Software that comes with the printer freezes Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer. Maybe just my computer sucks. The printing quality is great, the printer never jams, kinda slow but that may be due to my long usb2.0 cable.

Nice printer, works fairly quicker than my previous Canon. Only downside, as other have pointed out, is the lack of catch tray. My old ink worked just fine for this one also, didnt even need to buy a differnt type.

I still have this printer 6 years later. I refill my ink tank and only use black. After 5 years, I had to disassemble and clean the ink absorber pads inside the printer and reset the internal counter with a program to allow it to print so long. For most, it wasnt worth doing this for a cheap printer but I like a challenge (had to take it pretty far apart) and like this small simple printer.
