I do a lot of walking in my commute. Ive been using this backpack for about a month now, as my other one was just too worn out. I like just about everything about this backpack. Its super durable (I mean, its Carhartt, right?) The top, main pocket has two zippers. The bottom two only have one. The main pocket has three divided areas where you can separate out your commute/packing gear. There are two mesh pockets on the side. I use them for my sun umbrella and a bottle of water. Most of the stitching is double stitched. Wear points have a reinforcing stitch (like where the straps attach to the bag). Now water resistance.... ok, technically this bag shouldnt be considered water proof. I got caught in a typical Oklahoma rain storm a week or so ago. You know the kind... sideways rain and your umbrella doesnt do anything for you. So I and my bag got a good soaking. BUT the contents of my bag were dry. I did have to empty it and let the bag dry out, but thats cool. It happens. The bottom doesnt feel like leather, more like a tough vinyl. Hit it with some Armor-All every once in a while, and itll be fine. Straps are padded and pretty stiff at first, but the more you use it, the more they break in and become super comfortable. (be prepared to have some minor abrasion on your shoulders from this.)(but of course, this happens with new backpacks I buy). Theres a loop on top that I use to hang my keys on, but there is a key chain in the bottom pocket. I tried to get some good pictures all around the bag, so check them out. later

My husband has been using this bag for work travel for a couple months now. He uses it daily and stuff a lot in the pockets and the zippers have held up great!

I settled on the Carhart after much research. I wanted leather at first, but couldnt afford it. This is a nice compromise and is probably more durable. It does what I need it to do. It carries my laptop, charger, mouse, lunch, and even my running shoes and clothes. I attach my coffee thermos and smoothie to the daisy chain loops if needed and carry personal protection, ear buds, and other items in the pouches. Its a perfect size for me. All that stuff up to the laptop on the table was in there!

Stop looking at other backpacks! This is the first and final backpack youll ever need. The quality of the material is excellent , strong and flexible, as well as stylish. Extremely comfortable and breathable. The water resistance is amazing, can really handle sustained water exposure. Really happy with the purchase

Fantastic, heavy duty and well built. The straps are well padded and distribute the weight of a heavy bag well. I fit 3 books, a binder, notebook, lap top, pencil bag, charger, and headphones in. There was still plenty of room for my wallet, keys, a lunch bag and another large book. Room for water bottles on the side pockets. Last semester the weight of my books killed my shoulders and the straps eventually started tearing. With a similar load this semester, my shoulders barely notice the weight. The zippers are heavy duty, it’s well constructed and I’m counting on this backpack to last. Another bonus is that it’s not enormous on my back. I wouldn’t call it “minimalist” but it’s also not bulky or tacky.

I bought this backpack to replace the third backpack that Ive bought in a two year time frame. Carhartt is known for their product quality and already having some of their products, I bought it. I have to say that I was not disappointed when it arrived. Its made froma nice tough material and its well put together.

Carhartt tuff. Not too big, not to small. Great material on the bottom of the bag that is gunk resistant when you set it down. The laptop carrier nice as well. Just enough pockets but not too many. Love the Carhartt classic color. Looks real good in an F150. Pairs well with a Busch Light.
