> 3 dayI do a lot of walking in my commute. Ive been using this backpack for about a month now, as my other one was just too worn out. I like just about everything about this backpack. Its super durable (I mean, its Carhartt, right?) The top, main pocket has two zippers. The bottom two only have one. The main pocket has three divided areas where you can separate out your commute/packing gear. There are two mesh pockets on the side. I use them for my sun umbrella and a bottle of water. Most of the stitching is double stitched. Wear points have a reinforcing stitch (like where the straps attach to the bag). Now water resistance.... ok, technically this bag shouldnt be considered water proof. I got caught in a typical Oklahoma rain storm a week or so ago. You know the kind... sideways rain and your umbrella doesnt do anything for you. So I and my bag got a good soaking. BUT the contents of my bag were dry. I did have to empty it and let the bag dry out, but thats cool. It happens. The bottom doesnt feel like leather, more like a tough vinyl. Hit it with some Armor-All every once in a while, and itll be fine. Straps are padded and pretty stiff at first, but the more you use it, the more they break in and become super comfortable. (be prepared to have some minor abrasion on your shoulders from this.)(but of course, this happens with new backpacks I buy). Theres a loop on top that I use to hang my keys on, but there is a key chain in the bottom pocket. I tried to get some good pictures all around the bag, so check them out. later

Greater than one weekPut this puppy on and it made me invisible like John Cena. However if that “review” doesn’t solidify your backpack needs then just know the camo made me disappear like my father leaving to pick up some milk

Greater than one weekThis is a very nice looking bag for work. My son wanted something more professional and smaller than his college backpack for commuting on the train. The bottom leather-ish is good if he has to put it down and the fabric is thick and sturdy. The side nets hold thermos/waterbottle. I was nervous about the standard size backpack fitting his laptop (15 x 10) but it fits, no problem. Hoping the straps hold up as other reviews noted that has been a problem. Great backpack!

> 3 dayOne of the highest quality day packs Ive ever owned. I wanted one that was NOT narrowly built, geared only to people carrying laptops and devices. This one, although it has inner pockets for a laptop and tablet, has plenty of space to carry clothing and other gear. The top outside pocket is the perfect size for my glasses case or my phone, and the bottom pocket is useful for a dozen purposes. It seems very durable and well made, and best of all, it actually stands upright when you set it down (so tired of those that topple over)! The only con is the thick strap with industrial-strength Velcro that spans the inside laptop pockets. It is impossible to unfasten with one hand, and its mostly in the way. There is no way to remove it either. But this is a small thing. A great bag I would happily recommend to others. I dont know how it will do in the Portland rain, but I suspect just fine.

> 3 dayI purchased this backpack several months ago for traveling back and forth to the office every day. I liked that has some padding to protect my laptop, and is roomy enough to carry a book and binder as well as a few folders. There are two outside zip pocks for adapters, chargers, etc. Two side pockets for water bottles. A great, sturdy backpack at a very reasonable price. Also, having worked in stables as a kid, I love the nostalgia of the Carhartt brand.
