Greater than one weekI bought a Chris Christensen Buttercomb 000 in 2018, on the recommendation of my groomer. I love that comb. Seriously, I hear angels sing as it glides through my double coated corgis and Aussie’s fur. Nothing better for painlessly removing loose and blowing undercoat. I love this comb so much, I bought myself a second one. Sigh. The new one has sharp corners on the ends of the comb spine (see photo of new and old comb). The pointed corners hurt my palm when I’m using it. Since I comb three dogs about 30 minutes each at least twice a week, this is a problem for me. I reached out to the manufacturer via email, (with this photo and explaining that they were the same part number with the same markings, both purchased from their authorized distributors). The reply I got was that their plating process has changed. It seems that a “grind the pointy bit off before plating” step was somehow removed from their process. And yeah, for $30 I don’t think my dog comb should dig into my palm. So now, I have to buy a snap on handle and increase my $30 investment by another $20 if I want to be able to use this comb without discomfort. I’m disappointed by this change, to say the least. If you happen upon these combs at a dog show or event, see if you can find yourself an older style. If you get stuck with one of these, go ahead and buy their $20 handle.

> 3 dayThis item is the one thing that was nice out of the bundle I paid $125 for! Disappointed in the brushes, one came missing a bristle and the other lifted away from the handle after the first use!

> 3 dayI have three combs by Chris Christensen. Its expensive, but well worth it and durable. It has a nice weight to it. This buttercomb I use first to comb out larger tangles in my Shih Tzus fur. Then I use 006 buttercomb to get the smaller tangles and his face. And finally, I use the tail buttercomb to do his topknot. All are great quality by Chris Christensen.

> 3 dayIt took some getting used to - both me and my Maltese, but once we mastered the different feel (over a brush), I can tell this comb works much better. You can actually get down to the skin through the hair to ensure all the dirt and debris are being combed out, plus the edges of the comb are not as prickly/sharp as the pin brush I was using. Hes also fluffier after combing. It has made our nightly grooming sessions much more comfortable! Wish I had purchased it sooner

> 3 dayThe comb seems great but unfortunately it was too big for my 8 lbs cavapoo. It worked for the back but not for legs, head or belly and the finest part was not fine enough for my dog. The corners were also kind of sharp so not very comfortable for my hands. Since it seems like a very nice comb Im still rating it a 4. Just not right for my small dog.

> 3 dayButterComb is a great tool for caring for your Samoyed. Ensuring a Sammys fur is properly maintained is a difficult task. Getting down to the skin through that double-coated fur is hard to do without scratching the dog. ButterComb makes it both easy and comfortable for your dog. If you have a cheap comb, rub it across your hand to see how it feels. Chances are the experience will not only feel uncomfortable but leave scratch marks on your hand. ButterComb will slip easily across your hand and it will stay that way a long time.

> 3 dayI got this for our dog (obviously) on the review of a groomer. There are a lot of cheaper options out there but you get what you pay for. This is nice and sturdy and I have no doubt it will last a long time. Like I said, you get what you pay for. Don’t be swayed by the cheaper prices of similar combs - you will be disappointed and then end up paying for this in addition to your cheap comb. Do yourself a favor and just pay for the nice one right out the gate.

> 3 dayThis product was recommended by my cat groomer as what she uses in her grooming needs. I ordered to use at home in between grooming sessions and it works great. Keeps my 2 kitties tangle free.

> 3 dayExactly what I needed! As a dog groomer I have been looking for the perfect comb to use on the faces of the small and toy dogs that come into our shop. After hearing nothing but rave reviews about this product line I bit the bullet and started up my collection. This comb works exactly as described. Please note the size as some reviews complain about it being small. This comb is SUPPOSED to be tiny so make sure this is the right size for you before ordering! There are many different combs to choose from but Im looking to buy ALL of Chriss buttercombs over time.
