I have three combs by Chris Christensen. Its expensive, but well worth it and durable. It has a nice weight to it. This buttercomb I use first to comb out larger tangles in my Shih Tzus fur. Then I use 006 buttercomb to get the smaller tangles and his face. And finally, I use the tail buttercomb to do his topknot. All are great quality by Chris Christensen.

I bought a Chris Christensen Buttercomb 000 in 2018, on the recommendation of my groomer. I love that comb. Seriously, I hear angels sing as it glides through my double coated corgis and Aussie’s fur. Nothing better for painlessly removing loose and blowing undercoat. I love this comb so much, I bought myself a second one. Sigh. The new one has sharp corners on the ends of the comb spine (see photo of new and old comb). The pointed corners hurt my palm when I’m using it. Since I comb three dogs about 30 minutes each at least twice a week, this is a problem for me. I reached out to the manufacturer via email, (with this photo and explaining that they were the same part number with the same markings, both purchased from their authorized distributors). The reply I got was that their plating process has changed. It seems that a “grind the pointy bit off before plating” step was somehow removed from their process. And yeah, for $30 I don’t think my dog comb should dig into my palm. So now, I have to buy a snap on handle and increase my $30 investment by another $20 if I want to be able to use this comb without discomfort. I’m disappointed by this change, to say the least. If you happen upon these combs at a dog show or event, see if you can find yourself an older style. If you get stuck with one of these, go ahead and buy their $20 handle.

My dog hates to get brushed but this seems to do the truck.

I saw a video of a dog groomer. She recommended this comb. I am not a groomer but it is money well spent. Moves well thru hair, does exactly what it says.

I thought this was ridiculously overpriced for a dog comb but my younger Bichon Frise kept getting mats in his fur. He still has mostly puppy coat and its fine and even with nightly brushing, he was getting matted around the ears and face. I keep them cut fairly short too. At last grooming, it was so bad, he had to have his ears shaved!!! :( I was desperate for help and read about this on a message board. It is a life saver. It doesnt seem to hurt, I am no longer ripping out mats, and it gives them that freshly groomed cotton ball look! I saw some of the handlers using combs like these at the Westminster show on the Bichons there. So I would buy it again. Money well spent!

I’ve ordered fro Groomerspro before and they are a reliable retailer! Definitely recommend purchasing from them! As for the comb...I Love this comb! It was Recommended by my groomer! It’s magic and gets out mats from my persian kitty easily because of the fine tooth comb and also great and not so scary when combing out my yorkies face! It’s the best all round type comb for my grooming needs!

I use this on our wavy coated dog. Works great and helps to separate the hair before it mats. The comb has rounded teeth and tip, so more comfortable for dog. When I tried cheaper versions, dog was uncomfortable compared to using this comb. Using it for 7 yrs and just bought replacement.

Through the years, have bought several brands. At the time I thought they were good combs. That was until I bought this comb. The finish is the huge difference, or so I think. Comb glides through coats and even very thick coats so easily. Even if you don’t groom your dogs - you still have to maintain their coats.

My Ragdoll loves this comb. I’ve been using this comb for 8 months now, and i am so happy i purchased it. As soon as my cat sees me with the comb in my hand she runs to my feet and lays down and enjoys her grooming time. I can take a lot of the dead fur out, her coat stays nice and shiny and the cat just loves this activity. Works great on my long haired furry friend. Totally recommend it!
