> 3 dayIf youre looking for a budget TKL board to mod, this is the one to get, and here’s why: The board is RGB backlit with north facing LEDs, 3 and 5 pin hot swappable, the plate is steel, and the case is plastic. The magnetic top panel is a nice touch and there flip out supports for two angle adjustments, if you like your keyboard at more of an angle. The plate mounted stabilizers are pretty sturdy and pre-lubed. The keycaps are backlit, double shot ABS with an OEM profile. The switches are Jixian black, which are a 60g linear. They were the only option for switches at the time of purchase, but that didnt matter since I had already planned to replace them with lighter switches. USB-C to USB-A cable isnt bad by any means, and Ill probably stick with it since it seems good quality and it does what its supposed to do. Keyboard enthusiasts might disagree because its not a fancy, coiled, woven cord. It does have a Windows key lock, as well as a Function lock, which is nice to have for gaming. Out of the box the keyboard is usable. It’s an excellent choice if you just need a TKL mechanical keyboard to use, but don’t want to spend a lot of money, or if you want the potential to upgrade at a later time. There is software available, but if you dont intend to mess with the backlight or macros, then you dont really need to worry about the software. I haven’t used it myself, so I can’t speak for the interface or ease of use for the software. The JX black switches are nothing to write home about, but they work ok. Theyre a bit springy/creaky sounding, and a bit heavy for gaming, but lubing would probably make them better. Or not. Its honestly just easier and more worthwhile to replace them with a switch of your liking, rather than trying to lube them. And with a name like CIY (Change It Yourself) you can see why they didn’t bother with pricier switch options. The stock keycaps are fine if youre on a budget, but there are plenty of good budget options out there if you want to give it a different look. There was no conflict with the north facing RGB lights and using Akko switches with cherry profile keycaps. A little foam added into the case, new linear switches, cherry profile keycaps and some o-rings, and you can have a pretty quiet, mechanical TKL gaming keyboard for around $100 or so.

> 3 dayI really enjoyed this keyboard. The features are all easy to use and find and the customization is well done. 5 pin set up. I needed something that I could travel with. LEDs could be a bit brighter (on the black one). PROS: Includes keycap puller (a nice one) Quick response Hot swappable Cherry Profile CONS: LED could stand to be a bit brighter (on the black one)

> 3 dayThis was such a great improvement from my last keyboard. The cherry keys are super quiet -- and suitable for typing during meetings virtually. I love the colors too, they are customizable and allow me to change to suit my mood, which honestly changes a lot through the day! Love, love, love!

> 3 dayCIY has produced this fantastic keyboard with the consumer in mind. I optimize my keyboard in intense gaming and streaming but also use it for general office work. Software is easy and if you arent interested in, on board RGB controls are easy! The magnetic detachable cover is also a great addition. Overall, awesome switches, great sound, and great quality.

> 3 dayI really like this keyboard. For just under less than 50 dollars, its be hard to find a better deal than this. I also really like the two stage back stands (?) that this keyboard has. Because of this, you now have three levels of elevation for the back of the keyboard (I personally prefer the highest setting). However, I do have some complaints. The first that I noticed was the brightness of the LEDs. I am coming from a 2014 Razer Blackwidow Ultimate. The LEDs on that were amazing. However, the LEDs on this keyboard are comparatively dim. I am also not a fan of the keys that are supplied with this keyboard. I feel as though these switches require too much force to press down. When typing, it feels... ok. However, it becomes very noticeable when gaming. I noticed my finger becoming tired after holding down keys for longer periods of time. I am also wish that they included tactile or clicky switches. It just makes typing easier, since you can feel or hear when you hit the actuation point. I find linears to be a little vague. Though, thats just personal preference. I also found the software to be rather lacking. Though, I am coming from a Razer, so its somewhat understandable for there to be a difference in software. Overall, I think that this a great keyboard, but they keys and LEDs are the biggest flaws (in my eyes) of this keyboard. Thankfully, the keyboard is hot-swapable, so replacing the switches shouldnt be too big of a problem.

> 3 dayGot this keyboard while looking for a quality mechanical board with backlight. Im not a gamer (yet, but why should gamers have all the fun and get the cool toys) but like the tactile feel of a good mechanical board. This one does the trick. My first foray into a gaming board I like the feel and length of the throw of the keys, good solid feedback while typing. As a few people have stated the backlight doesnt get as bright as I wish but it does a good job. Lots of options available, feels good to use and the price is right.

> 3 dayGood quality keyboard for the money. It is a little bit louder than my membrane keyboard, but it is not terribly loud. The magnetic cover is a nice touch that will make things easier to clean on the board as the board will eventually get dirty from hair, etc. You really have to push in hard the usb cable that attaches to the keyboard in order for it to connect. There are no default solid color settings, but there are 5 programmable slots that you could in theory use to make a solid color layout. The colors are most of the rainbow and the color white. Although they dont have a separate color for orange.. just a dark yellow. So you have 7 colors choices - Red, dark yellow, Green, cyan blue, indigo blue, magenta violet, and white. The white has a slight pinkish tint to it. All RGB keyboard that I try to use the white color setting either have a tint either towards cyan or to pink. And I think this is because it is difficult to combine the leds of the switches to produce a pure white color. If you want a white color, youre usually better off getting a keyboard that only displays a white led. The other weird issue is that when I try to program the setup to use only white color for every button, then scrlk, capslock and win keys turn dark on setting. It doesnt happen if I choose another solid color for the keyboard. Programming the button colors is tricky as well, as the button color sequence appears to be dependent on the last button color that you pushed and is not totally dependent on what the current color is of the current button you are pressing. Overall a good keyboard for the current price ($50). My perfect keyboard would be a low profile membrane keyboard waterproof with backlit white settings that was reliable with keys that dont fade due to wear and tenkeyless (most users dont use the right number pad). So far I have not found that keyboard, but have found keyboards that are close. Some logitech keyboards have come close, but they have some issues.

> 3 daySo to start. The price of this keyboard is what brought me to it. Being hot swappable as well is a HUGE bonus for me because I like different feels for different things. This has been put through 95 hours so far of typing, and of those 90 hours 45 of them have been from gaming (streaming) The response time for the switches are fantastic, the way the color shines through wasnt a huge deal for me but for pictures it turns out amazing. The packaging was a little iffy (held in by 2 foam inserts) but the box was properly packaged within another box lol. The weight is a little lighter than I prefer, but again, for the money it’s great. I can’t wait to try out the other boards and put them around the office and see how they hold up. If anything changes I’ll update this but so far, it’s the best board I’ve used anywhere near this price point

> 3 dayPurchased this budget board for my sister. Stabilizers came great didn’t have to modify or fix it too much! Only a little rattle but that was an easy fix. Sounds great out of the box but of course as a person who likes building keebs, I modded it with a tempest mod, sound dampening (noico), and pe foamed with Akko Blue Cream v3 tactiles lubed. It sounds amazing after the changes and PBT whale keycaps makes the aesthetic much better! Overall would but again to build a budget board for friends!

> 3 dayWithout doing any modifications (other than changing the keycaps), this keyboard types like a dream. The switches are so buttery and sound wonderful. It was easy to switch the keycaps, which is great because I love being able to switch my caps every month so I dont get bored (and taking them off each month lets me clean any dust that might get in as well). I dont really use the rainbow lights as I type, but they do look nice and bright. I know Ill be buying my daughters this keyboard because of how lovely it types and how nice the lighting is when they get old enough to have their own computers. Ive already recommended this keyboard to my own Mother, and Ill recommend it to everybody that asks. Ive been using it for a little over a month and Im still in love with it.
