Co-Pilot Luggage Roller Suitcase

> 3 dayThe Timbuk2 Copilot Luggage Roller is a beautiful, well-built piece of luggage. In the photo, this is a nice looking piece of luggage. In person, this is a beautiful, classy piece of luggage that makes me wish that I could travel more just so that I had more reasons to use it. It has a classic yet contemporary look and the red top-stitching makes a bold statement. The suitcase opens up like a book with one hard side and one soft side, so you have protection for the items that need it without the unforgiving shape and bulk of a fully hardshell case. And, there are plenty of pockets to keep things separated, including two on the outside for items that need easy access. My favorite feature is the long, sturdy handle. I’m reasonably tall, but with my very long legs I often have to stoop-walk when using rolling luggage. The handle on the copilot luggage roller is long enough that it comes to my hip when fully extended. It also glides like butter even over rough carpeting and cobblestone. This is my new favorite piece of luggage.

> 3 dayThis is without a doubt a bag that has been thought out in design except for the size. It is anything but small. It is so well made and the features are many as has been detailed in other reviews. It is so study and will hold up for years if not decades to come. BUt it is Huge!!! I took it out of the box, opened it up and could fit my entire wordwobe for a year in there. Very deceiving. I am a flight attendant and have traveled exclusively with TravelPro and this bag is equal in quility to my flight bag. However I need a smaller lighter bag for travel in Europe this summer. I have measured this and the demensions are indeed 21inches high. But it is easily 15inches wide and 10inches deep. Which is over the permitted size for really any carry on. And its heavy. I dont have a scale but it has to be 9 lbs and is just as heavy as my flight bag which is 9-10lbs. Its a great buy for $100. I just wish is was smaller because it just has so many great features. It just doesnt meet my needs.

> 3 dayI have been using this pretty regularly for a few months now. Great bag and great use of storage. The material stretches a lot so I can basically always stuff things in this bag (although if Im really squishing stuff in the bag starts to look lumpy- ie dirty clothes bag at the end of a trip isnt neatly folded and sometimes it shows), depending on how much effort I want to put into it. Love the clamshell design with the dual access panel. Dual access is a GAME CHANGER. Why dont more suitcase manufacturers use this feature? I dont always know when Ill need my coat to keep me warm, whether on a plane or at my destination, but its so nice to be able to pull my coat out without even removing the bag from the overhead bin! Genius! Its great not having to carry the coat with me separately and risk leaving it somewhere or inadvertently dropping it. (It can be hard to stuff the coat back in the bag without fully opening it up so I just know once its out, its out for the day.)

Greater than one weekThis bag looks great and the reviews are consistently good; which, after much research and consideration led me to purchase it. However, my first impression upon receiving this bag was that the design is lacking in several main areas. As a mechanical engineer I am very picky when it comes to design and build quality. One of the main reasons I purchased this bag was because of the robust looking, external telescopic handle and skateboard wheels. Awesome concept but the design and build quality really let me down. This was apparent upon my first time using this bag. The release mechanism inside the tubes is not supported well and therefore rattles around when youre rolling on anything rougher than a polished airport floor. The rattling is amplified by the tubes and it is utterly annoying especially for a bag that you just dropped $200+ on. I tried to contact Timbuk2 on their customer support line but after three failed attempts just gave up. Fast forward 10 months later while on a trip to Europe rattling down the streets of Dubrovnik the telescopic tube assembly fails completely; pulling apart at one of the joints. The release mechanism was giving some problems in the previous weeks randomly jamming open.. which didnt surprise me given how loose the internals seem to be. When the thing finally broke I had to resort to tying a scarf around the handle and pulling it around.. for two weeks more!! The other main complaint I have about this bag is that the corners are not sufficiently protected. It would have been easy to mount some plastic corner plates on the bottom half but they didnt do it and trust me, it will get frayed and scuffed on your first trip outside of a car trunk.
