Cool As Ice

This movie is truly gods gift, Ive watched it about 70 times just these past few months and it amazes me every time. Vanilla ice should have pursued a career in acting i would watch every movies that he is in. I wish that they had made more movies about this couple. I would have loved to watch them get married,have kids and grow old together. They had amazing chemistry on screen now this is a movie couple I can get behind. Thank you

This movie is so rediculous! I have seen it many times and still crack up every time Ice utters a catchphrase, they show his face, or someone interacts with him. Its like a cartoon character.

Vanilla Ice is not that bad an actor, considering he isnt an actor. I think he was great with his love scenes, more believable than Eminem in 8 Mile, and I love 8 Mile. This movies plot was dumb. If Rob wasnt in this movie, I know I wouldnt have watched it.

I love this movie! Its one of those movies that its so bad its great. Ive watched it like a hundred times and I never get tired of it. A must have for any movie collector.

We mock that which we do not understand. Nearly 15 years have passed since this seminal 1991 work exploring post-Cold War realpolitik was released to almost universal critical acclaim, though it fared poorly outside of art-house theaters in the most cosmpolitan of Europes capital cities. While the binary, us-or-them thinking of the protagnoist, the nearly Shakespearean Mr. Ice, was probably lost on larger audiences, those of us struggling with the fall of the Berlin Wall and our own divided loyalities sympathized with the films attractive heroine and her existential dilemma: Drop the zero? Get with the hero? Which is which, and whom is whom? One other comment: While the out-of-print VHS version of this film is perfectly adequate for the casual viewer, Id highly recommend the superior transfer of the Bratslavian-import DVD, which includes among its bonus features a lengthy roundtable discussion of the film by Henry Kissinger, James Baker and N.W.A.

The only reason Cool as Ice gets the almost award is because everyone knows the best film ever made is Road House with Patrick Swayze. If you are waiting for your new Road House DVD (because the other one wore out) or letting it cool down because the of the laser heat, you should be watching Cool as Ice. Not since the release of the Where is Waldo? series on books on tape has there been a more anticipated release. This new DVD brings Robert Van Winkles acting talent to the masses. VHS of this movie could be found in the $100.00 range. This is the 1991 story of a misunderstood tough guy with a good hart, Johnny Van Owen, falling in love with a goody-two shoes honor student, Kathy, who is hotter than her GPA would suggest. Ironically, Kathys parents hide a dark secret. The movie has been compared to a modern day Rebel Without a Cause; but this does a disservice to Cool as Ice. The only similarities are a leather jacket and a motorcycle. The supporting cast is rounded out by cant miss favorites Michael Gross (Family Ties), Bobby Brown, and Naomi Campbell. This addition includes the music sound track on a seperate CD. This allows you to appricate the quality of the sound track independant of the film. It is tight, moving and really the voice of early-1990s middle class suburban white teenage angst. By not relying on his prior hits, Vanilla Ice shows you his musical range and provides a personal journey into his soul. He also is proud about achieving a Peoples Choice Award as it is mentioned several times in two songs and is the title of one of the ditties. His ability to say VIP 37 times in one song is a testiment to his impact on the Rap community. Vanilla Ice made it possible for people like Marshall Mathers to be taken seriously as rap artists.
