Corel Painter Essentials 5 Digital Art Suite for PC and Mac (Old Version)

This is a great starting point if you want to see what you can do and if you really want to put effort into art.

Useless pos. Seriously. Thought it might offer most of the function of PS Elements with some FDP basics, seems to be none of the above.

Im really impressed with the new Corel Painter Essentials 5 software, Ive been trying it out for the past 30 days. This is the first time for me using it, but Ive been using similar graphics programs for a number of years now. A lot of them have been Corel products, so there hasnt been too steep a learning curve with my getting started with this software. In fact, its has some similarities with another program that I use - PD Particles. Plus, there is a feature that remind me a lot of the tubes brushes in Paint Shop Pro. But there are a lot of differences and additional features too. I like Painter Essentials particle brushes as well as the FX brushes. I found it very easy to paint a nice fur texture.

Holy Moly, is this software fun! I take and edit a lot of pictures for business, and have done so for years. Essentials 5 has revitalized my pure enjoyment of computer art....photos and other expressions.

Too complicated to set up and we got a virus with all the crap you have to download

I have used both Painter 11 and Painter 12 and find these more intuitive to use than Painter Essentials 5, which is essentially a stripped-down version of the full-fledged Painter programs. Painter 11 and 12 have more brushes, more canvas textures, wet background painting, more options and customizations, and a slew of other niceties that Painter Essentials lack. HOWEVER, Painter is also more than 10 times the price of Painter Essentials. PLUS, Painter 11 and 12 are buggy and computer resource intensive. Painter Essentials, on the other hand, is easy on the CPU, has a much smaller memory footprint, is less buggy, and plays very well with Windows 10.

If youre going to advertise something as compatible with Windows 7, please actually make it compatible with said platform. If you scroll down quite a way and look more closely at system requirements, it clearly states there that this software requires Windows 8.1 and higher.

I desire to be a photo artist because I have loved photography my entire life (both in front of the camera and behind it). Corel Painter Essentials 5 caught my interest because it is specially designed for art enthusiasts and emerging photo artists who want to go beyond ordinary and turn everyday inspiration into seriously impressive art. It is advertised as easy to be amazing with award-winning Natural-Media brushes, and time-saving painting tools like Mirror and Kaleidoscope that lets one create one-of-a-kind art with just a few strokes. It says that photo-painting and cloning tools are unmatched, transforming your photos into impressionist, oil and watercolor, etc. Well since I am not an expert at this type of software, I do not know how it compares to others, but I feel that this product will serve me well. I am also an author and look forward to creating my own book covers and artwork for my childrens books.
